This is completely rebuilt in the early 21st century after the Soviets tore the original down, and thankfully so. It'd be really sad not to be able to see and visit this stunning Cathedral. It's free to enter and takes only about 15 minutes of your time so there's no reason you shouldn't visit when in Kiev.

They have nice service where you can relax and listen to the choir. There's bathroom on the premises but it's not very clean. Walk around the church, check out the white monument to knyagynya Olga, study the old fresco at the entrance and of course - continue your walk to St. Andrew's church and descent.

The church is beautiful but the Byzantine mosaics are much on high in the cupola. Beautiful book for sale that shows them all. The complex also contains a wood-covered monastery and other secondary buildings.

Beautiful interior, free to enter. Almost always can catch cantors singing or a service of some kind. Beautiful grounds and in a great area of town to explore and walk around

While in Kiev, don`t miss a visit to St Michael`s Cathedral. I have visited this beautiful place many times, and was married there in June 2013. No visit to Kiev is complete without visiting this superb blue painted, golden domed Cathedral. For me it is one of the most striking places in Kiev. The exterior architecture is outstanding, and the... More

Free to enter. Small but beautiful monastery, again with stunning interior. Worth the detour on your way down Andriys descent.

This is a stunning church and while incredibly ornate inside (as are all the others in Kiev it seems) has a more authentic feel. Definitely worth a walk to see.

Just when you thought "you've seen one Cathedral, you've seen them all," in comes St. Michael's. Take my advice...spend a couple of hours here just marveling at the modern reconstruction of this very historical cathedral. While this was actually built in the last decade, the artwork is stunning. Again, it could benefit from more English signage to tie the artwork... More

This is a good in and out visit that offers some neat architecture and religious art, you can easily stop in while you are walking by and then continue onward.

There are a lot of nice rmonasteries in Kiev but St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is really beautiful, especially outside with its live colours. The monastery is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the edge of a bluff northeast of the Saint Sophia Cathedral and and overlooks the city's historical commercial and merchant quarter. Entrance is free.
