Absolutely mesmerising. I've seen a lot of churches and temples on a lot of cities, don't think I've enjoyed any as much as this. Enchanting on the outside, absorbing and atmospheric on the inside. Reminds me of Haghia Sofya in Istanbul but without the crowds. Climb to the top for a beautiful view of Kiev. So serene and majestic, we... More

Lots to see inside with many paintings on the walls and ceilings. Lots of arches like in Byzantium style, however no photography allowed. Amazing inside. The bell tower is a bit of a climb but well worth the view from the top.

The cathedral is a must-see for anyone visiting Kyiv. It's a very beautiful structure with wonderful architecture, both from the outside and inside. The view from the inside, when going to the top of the towers is majestic.

That is one of the oldest building in tge East Europe - more than 1000 years. Very nice outside - cozy atmosphere in tge garden. You can also pick up on the top to see fantastic view of Kyiv.

The territory is ticket based but it's well worth it. Also - get a ticket to climb the bell tower, you'll get amazing views from there. In front of this church you'll see Xmas & New Year fair & the main Ukrainian Xmas tree, starting from spring there will be many art festivals, exhibitions & other interesting events here. We were rather late arriving here and only had chance to see around the main cathedral building. This is no longer a working church, however the interior is spectacular. Well worth the effort and the nominal entrance charge. Photography is not permitted inside unfortunately and there are some frightening looking women around to enforce this.

It's a beautiful building don't get me wrong, it's very nice and on any normal day I think it would be great. We however went for the New Year's Eve celebrations expecting a big show of fireworks and a countdown to bring in the new year but we were extremely let down with the 4... yes 4 small fireworks, there... I heard the above statement alot whilst travelling. It was one of three built. There are three entry fees, 20uah (grounds) 80uah (grounds, rectory building, cathedral), 120uah (bell tower, museum and everything previously mentioned). You cannot take any photos inside the Cathedral and there are attendants everywhere, watching you! Famous Mother of Oranta mosaic inside which is beautiful. Enjoy!

Definitely worth a visit to this 10th century cathedral now a museum. Frescoes are somewhat faded but still beautiful. Overall the architecture and spiritual space it aspires to achieve were most memorable for me. Unlike other Kyiv churches this is a museum, so without the candles and private devotion to icons going on, which meant it lacked the sense of... More
