My girlfriend and I shopped around San Salvador to find a Dive Center that would meet all of our needs to complete our Open Water Certification. My girlfriend, being a local El Salvadorian required someone to be able to instruct in Spanish and for myself, being an American that has limited Spanish skills needed someone that could instruct in English. As soon as we walked into the Pacific Paradise Dive Shop we were warmly greeted by the co-owners Henry and Nuria. Both Henry and Nuria have spent several years in the USA and have El Salvadorian roots as well. The dive shop is nicely stocked with a sufficient supply of the basic dive gear. Henry proudly gave us a tour of the shop including the compressor / tank fill area, the back shop, and equipment storage area. Everything was well organized, professional, and clean. Being in the aviation industry (as an aircraft technician I love anything mechanical) I was very impressed by the manner in which all of the equipment was maintained, stored, and how his compressor/tank fill area was properly segregated and well maintained. I definitely would not have any concerns having a tank filled here. We knew immediately that this was the dive shop for us. After our meeting with both Henry and Nuria we knew that this was the dive shop for us. So, eagerly began our Open Water Certification Training. Understanding our needs, Henry and Nuria matched us up an outstanding Diving Instructor. Richard Serrano, made our first diving experience, fun, exciting, and memorable. Richard has numerous years of scuba diving experience, and is dedicated to ensuring that his students are properly training and prepared for safe and fun diving. He is truly an asset to the diving community. My girlfriend had some apprehensions about scuba diving and Richard’s instruction style, along with his unwavering patience made her feel relaxed and confident. Richard also shares “real-life” experiences to the training, which in my opinion is often more valuable to anything you can learn from just reading a book. Now that we have completed our Open Water Certification we are looking forward to getting some diving experience under our weight belts (sorry couldn’t resist) and continue our diving training with Pacific Paradise Divers!…
