Having walked for about an hour while visiting attractions at the city center, I took a short break here. There are benches to sit down and enjoy the moment.

The tall monument has a statue of an angel standing on the globe, statue of a lion, plus some inscriptions. Note that this plaza is located across from the Church of the Rosary or Iglesia del Rosario.

This is a slightly sketchy plaza located in the centre of downtown San Salvador. Frequented by prostitutes, panhandlers and homeless it can feel at times slightly sketchy. However, a police presence and recent gentrification have made it a lot more safe in recent years, if only during the day. Nevertheless it still maintains a gritty tone.

The biggest positive of plaza barrios is that the Iglesia El Rosario is located adjacent to it, and its only a stones throw away from the Cathedral Metropolitana and National Palace, as well as the central market. Because of this it makes for a nice additional stop in a larger tour of the downtown city area.

There is parking for $1 an hour next to Iglesia El Rosario however use it at your own risk as the ticket booth guy actually assaulted our tour guide after refusing to provide him a receipt for parking.

While on our walking tour, my guide took me there and explain to me that the statue basically is their version of the Statue of Liberty. The Plaza is beautiful, as I loved the big sign that says; I love San Salvador!

We were with a guide. The square has a significant historical meaning. If you are there, check out the Rosario church! There are actually not so many tourists in San Salvador. The local people come to the square. It was Christmas time, so the square was nicely decorated and full of people.

The first independence movement of Salvador was in 1811 and to commemorate the hundredth year, in 1911, a monument was erected in Plaza Libertad. This is the only plaza still in the original location all these years from 1545. This was modified to provide marble benches, trees water fountains etc in 2018

We came to downtown San Salvador during our City Tour. Plaza Libertad and Barrios Park are very close to each other. Off Plaza Libertad is the Rosario Cathedral which is worth a visit.

The people are V.G. ... All people in Central America are approximate equal (with slight difference in Mexico) ... And by the way, All of them the same catagory of people in US!
Above because: there is no attractions in this city except (See the People): The best kind to travelling abroad ... Everything can see in InterNet except the People.
In Old T.: I don't feel any danger & You will find some historical Bldgs. aroud & will have some change far from cold new area ... Can go by walking OR Many safe public bus ticket start from 0.20$

This place is a hub of activity,There are a lot of people just sitting around whiling their time maybe even doing some business. This Plaza is surrounded by a lot of small shops and restaurants.

We strolled through this plaza while our tour was going around the city centre of San Salvador. This I understand is a major plaza and attraction of the city since the plaza always appears in brochures of El Salvador.
