Visiting the Canal is an amazing experience. It is a "must see" for anyone visiting Panama. If your time is limited, at least visit the Miraflores Visitors Centre where you can watch boats going through the Miraflores lock into the Pacific Ocean. You can even watch the locks while enjoying lunch or dinner in their restaurant.
But if you have 6 or 7 hours, take a boat trip through the Canal to gain first hand experience of how they operate. Considering the same locks have been in use for over 100 years, it is an engineering feat beyond one's imagination.

Seems like this is a duplicate entry. But, as I’ve indicated elsewhere, this is a must see wow in Panama City. Engineering marvel. Entrance fee includes the exhibition. There’s also a restaurant gift shop. But, the reason you come here is to watch the ships pass through the locks.

Extraordinary visit to the Cocoli locks, part of the Canal expansion to host post-panamax ships. We had the opportunity to see two liquified gas cargo ships; what an amazing experience to witness the ingenuity and cleverness on how to use our world's resources for the betterness of humanity.

Excellent experience... head to Miraflores section by taxi and yo will be inmerse in the history the Canal. Go to the 4th floor of the visiting centre to have a look at this incredible ingeneering system.
Arrive as early as 8am before people arrive, then it will hard to get a view.
There is algo an exhibition in all 4 floors which explains how it works.
Will take between 2 to 3 hours to enjoy it all, don't miss it.

The best way to see the Panama Canal is to do a full transit. We chose to transit from Panama headed toward Colon and the Caribbean.

One of the main reasons to visit this region. Legendary structure of great benefit to the world economy.
Only real way to experience is to cruise through.

For geeks, the canal is a treasure. Learning about its building and operation is fascinating and really puts a context around canal-viewing.

The locks on the Channel closest to the capital are Miraflores locks. A noisy crowd watches the passage of another ship through the gateways, and nearby there is an interesting museum that is worth a visit.

You'll end up going just because you're in Panama but it's pretty average viewing. Most interesting part was my Uber driver telling me stories about living in Panama City.

There is not Panama without thinking on this place. The entrance fee is very expensive $20 plus the transport to get there and to come back so around $5 more per way.
The entrance includes the visit to the museum what is nice and a movie exhibition that doesn’t talk about the canal.
You have to be also lucky to arrive in the right moment otherwise you can be long there until a boat crosses, specially in your side (what is nicer than in front).
