It does not matter if you do the Full or the Partial transit of the Panama Canal you still would have to check off #5 from the list of 100 Journeys of a Lifetime by National Geographic. Canal and Bay Tours has been offering both transits for over 12 years and we are committed in assisting you to create a memorable experience. Both transits are an all-day affair with breakfast, lunch, and non-alcoholic refreshments included. Your once in a lifetime experience of transiting the Panama Canal begins with check in at the Playita de Amador and boarding one of our three vessels; Tuira II, Fantasia del Mar, or Isla Morada. Aboard our vessel you be on the Pacific Ocean and will pass under the Bridge of the Americas, through the Mira Flores and Pedro Miguel Locks, beneath the Centenario Bridge, through Culebra Cut, and ending in Gatun Lake which was the largest man-made lake in the world. You will also observe the construction of the second set of locks otherwise known as the Expansion of the Panama Canal.

Really great trip. The narrator on the tour was informative and fun and made the experience really worth while. Why go all the way to Panama City and just go to the observation deck and museum? Take the boat ride through the locks to get...More

I had heard so much about the Panama Canal and the lock system, so it was a great experience to do the half transit boat tour. The schedule is dependent on the canal and the smll tour boat needs to pass through with a larger...More

Panama Canal is a 100 year old engineering masterpiece, and best experienced by actually boating through the locks. Tour includes pickup and drop off to your hotel. We took the 1/2 locks experience (3 locks) which takes 5-6 hours minimum boat ride. Count on a...More

A few tips worth sharing. We had some unhappy, uninformed passengers on our tour. Scheduling – the canal schedules the passage, NOT the tour company. Tour boats are low priority, so be prepared for last minute schedule changes, and be prepared for a long day,...More

We opted for the full day cruise at 195$, only possible every second Saturday. The partial was also possible for 40$ less. For our purposes the day is committed to either way and this way you get to see the Gatun locks on the Caribbean...More

We took a partial trip on the Panama Canal in March. It was an excellent tour, led by a very interesting tour guide, JC. He was informative, amusing, and knowledgeable. Traveling on the Canal is a must-see in Panama. The partial transit was a good...More

The ferry boat Islamorada itself has an interesting history which was related during our tour of the Panama Canal. The tour itself is a fascinating experience and a wonderful way to view up close how the locks operate. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you must...More

At first we started with 1 1/2 hour delay. Then we found a crowded boat. With about 25 others we shared for 5 hours some bad chairs in the hot sun. Menu was ok. Well, we survived it.

We did the partial tour which was 3 locks. It was amazing and exhilarating and in a nostalgic boat with a long celebrated history... apparently its sister boat starred in the African Queen! You do however need to bring your patience and leave your "first...More

Sorry I just saw your question & you may need to contact Canal & Bay Tours directly. What I do know is a full transit takes over 10 hours. The departure time hinges on when the Panama Canal authority says they have a captain... More
