Great History

Immaculate and exhibits well presented. The history of the canal in detail. East to find and open at standard hours. Loved it.

Nice museum in beautiful building during a walk around Casco Viejo. Rented the audio tour, which leaves out a lot of detail presented in Spanish, but sufficiently covers the Canal story and the displays. Provides the context of the slow and sometime painful transfer of the Zone to Panama.

This museum is extremely informative. Unfortunately the details are not in English. Pay for the headphones and you will get a lot of the information you need. It is $10 plus $3 for your headset. It gives you all the history about the Canal you might need!

This place was SUPER fantastic. They have audio devices that explain much (but not all) of the information next to the displays. So many aspects of the Panama Canal the cnale zone and the many countries involved. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I only know of one Canal that connects the Atlantic to the Pacific and it is the Panama Canal. This museum is very informative of the history, maintaining and future of the Canal. There is an observation deck where you can watch the ships go through the old and or the new Canal locks. The museum spreads over four floors... More

We were looking forward to visiting this museum but left feeling disappointed. Most of the exhibits are in Spanish, which is perfectly understandable given that is the local language, but it made it quite a limiting experience for us. We made aware of the headphone translation service on offer, but in any case most of the exhibits were static and... More

We took in the museum during one of our days is Casco Viejo. Really good museum, and easy to walk through. I highly recommend getting the english translation headphones if you don't speak spanish. We took in the museum before going to Mariflores locks, and I'm glad we did. Very informative.

I walked into this museum while walking around Casco Viejo. $10 bucks to get in and the staff couldn't tell me what I would see, or any of the exhibits within. I decided to pass seeing as how I visited the Miraflores locks the day before and got some very interesting and useful information.

This is the museum in Plaza Independencia in Casco Viejo, not the visitor center at the locks. Wonderful in-depth education about Panama City and Canal Zone. Spans from Pre-Colombian times to the transfer of the canal from USA to Panama in 1999. Especially great are the Videos, photos, artifacts and diagrams from the construction of the Canal. The history is... More
