Interesting history of the huge project of building the canal, cool mock piloting of a ship. Great place to get souvenirs since some are only found at their gift shop and nowhere else.

Went with a tour recommended by our hotel, seems like the best option for a tour guide that spoke great English. Although you're in an out in about 1.5 hours, it's the must see thing to do. If you are getting trinkets to take back to family, some you can only get at their gift shop.

The visitor center has a pretty good museum and viewing stands that overlook the Miraflores Locks of the canal. There is a short movie (I recommend seeing this before going throught he exhibits) and then you can go through the museum portion. Watching the ships traversing the locks was amazing.

A must see if you find yourself in Panama City and not too far to travel if you are in the financial district. We skipped the video explaining the history of the canal and opted to spend more time watching an oil tanker traverse the locks.

The visitor center is a great way to see the boats coming through the canal. We went in the afternoon and spent a few hours watching 3 boats move through the locks. They have a guide adding details in Spanish and English as the boats go through the locks.

Miraflores locks is one of the incredible examples of engineering. The locks have been working since the early 1900s and still the same today with the exception of the electric "mules" that guide ships through. It was a warm sunny day and people didn't care about others around them. Announcements are in English and Spanish. It is a lot of... More

This 3 stoyry museum walks you through the history of the locks and you finish the museum tour on the top floor where you can view the locks.

Obviously if you go to Panama, you have to see the Panama Canal, but this crowded, overpriced tourist trap is not really worth it. In hindsight I would consider seeing it another way, by boat or going to Gatun Lake. One positive is the museum, it was great and informative. The concept of the canal is amazing, but you can't really... More

First, let me recommend you get here early in the day. This visitor's center can get quite cowded and people have a way of just staying put for an hour or longer watching the locks. Getting a prime viewing location can be an issue at times. That said, the process is captivating to watch. Every visitor to Panama City owes... More

For the foreigners price, it is not worth it but they get away with charging $15 cuz it's usually on people's must see list for panama. Its always a mad house on the terrace, so get there before the boat is in the locks otherwise you'll never see it!
