We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Saint Francis of Assisi Church. Our favorite part was going up in the tower, the views were just breathtaking! The second floor of the church had an amazing display of nativities, from Jerusalem to a zoo and even a carnival. There are also paintings on display for sale. Not for the faint-hearted but the views are spectacular, I'd say a must do!

Historic churches tell so much about a place. They reflect a point in time like other architecture and provide a context to the area around it. Well worth a visit along with Plaza Bolivar out front.

CHURCH OF SAN FRANCISCO DE ASIS
It is one of the most beautiful churches in the Old Town. It has a bell tower on the front.
Inside the image of the Virgin of Santa MarÃa La Antigua, patron saint of the country. With the Coat of Arms. Next to her is the image of Saint Francis of Assisi. Numerous stained glass windows, paintings, altars and images.

Very nice church in the old town opposite Bolivar Square, at the end of the historic center by the sea.
On the outside stands out its tall bell tower. The altar is modern with beautiful paintings. The atmosphere is cool and pleasant inside and it is nice to spend some time there resting and praying.

This Church is host to a ginormous mosaic that stands at centre stage above the main alter. There are a number of different and unique statues scattered around and also plaques that describe them in both Spanish and English!

Beautiful historic church in
Casco Viejo next to Palacio Bolivar.
Features a relic from the 18th century Church of St Francis and a commemorative display to celebrate 500 years of Christianity since 1492.

This was one of the highlights to our visit to the old section of Panama. Take the time to go in, sit, look, relax and enjoy Iglesia De San Francisco.

This church was in the list of places to visit and we were glad we did. We all loved it, the details and the people that explain to us the history.
Very glad we visit.

One of the most beautiful churches in the Casco Viejo area. Right across the plaza Bolivar from the restaurant "Casablanca." Worth the visit.

Situated on the Plaza Simón Bolivar, which is also the site of the beautiful Simön Bolivar Palace, this church has survived 2 major fires back in the 17th century and was renovated to its current state back in 1918. It is an interesting mix of architectural styles and like the cathedral, it is bright and airy inside and features some amazing plain blue and clear windows as well as what appear to be fairly modern stained glass windows.
There are a number of interesting religious statues and is well worth a visit.
