Love this place!

We got rained out when we came to Augusta for some outdoor activities. We were not sure what to do so we stop by the museum and so glad we did. So much rich history to see here.

We love the Maine State Museum!! We visit several times a year and we always learn something new, our children always enjoy themselves. It is an older building but immaculately cared for and always being updated. The state library and archives are also housed here. The museum focuses on the history of maine its people, animals, transportation, livelihood, industries, family... More

We go there often with my grandchildren. Even the five year old gets right into it. they now have scanvenger hunts that the kids can find things in the museum and that makes the trip so much more fun and exciting for them. Love it and for $1.00 you can spend several hours there. Learn about new things and have... More

This was an awesome experience with my grandson. The pace you go through here is up to you, but I would allow a minimum of 4 hours to just see things here, if you want to dabble and discuss, plan for a whole day experience!! Loved it!!!

I suppose if you have exhausted all of this state's majestic beauty and fun things to do. Or, if you are a grade school teacher in search of a cheap field trip to teach some eager beavers about the history of Maine, then this is the place to go. If it is raining the kind of rain that you cannot... More
