Located overlooking the Severn River in Annapolis, it provides a beautiful, peaceful place for reflection and honoring of those who served their country during WW II. TIP: There is a small parking lot behind the memorial and this site is visited on the Discover Annapolis...More

A nice place to stop and stretch your legs with a scenic overlook of the Naval Academy across the river. Interpretive signs describe Maryland's participation in the war, and the names of Maryland's war casualties are inscribed in alphabetical order on panels. In-ground world maps...More

This is a very nice little memorial atop a hill overlooking the Severn River and the U.S. Naval Academy on the far shore. The memorial contains the names of Marylanders from WW II and has some significant history on the plaques placed around the perimeter....More

This war memorial is located on a hill over looking the Severn River and the US Naval Academy between the northbound and south bound lanes of Rt. 450 just north of Annapolis. There is a limited parking area.

Unfortunately, the day we visited it was cloudy so we couldn't experience the view. I would imagine it would be quite beautiful. The memorial itself was well done. We took the time to read the signs around the edge providing historical information. I was a...More

If it's a nice day and you are not in a hurry, I would recommend pulling off the road and spending a few minutes watching the boats sail by.

The day view from this site is great, but the night view is stunning. Have a bite to eat at the Severn Inn and spend some time at the pier at sunset and then drive up to the Memorial and check out the incredible views...More

There are several steps to get up to the memorial which probably makes it more difficult for our WWII veterans to come see it, but once there you are rewarded with a beautiful solemn memorial. It is inscribed with the names of 6,454 Marylanders who...More

We took an hour trolley tour around Annapolis and were able to see this memorial. It is very well done in a beautiful setting high enough to overlook the bay and Annapolis.

As stated above, this is a monument area with a wonderful view, but no museum, The WWII Museum in New Orleans is a good suggestion- you can probably contact them on-line and ask about donating your dad's "stuff".
