Striking statue

In day time or when lit up at night, this statue of Alexander the Great is striking. At night, the colours of the lights change. Below, there are statues of lions and fountains.

This statue is the 'poster child' of Skopje, king of the statues in a city with more than most. It stands on a huge plinth, with a fountain beneath it, and also lights up at night and plays music. Of all the statues in the city, it's not the prettiest - I prefer the fountain and statue of Philip of... More

I have mixed emotions about this monument. It dominates the all renovated central square, just before the beautiful old Stone bridge. As many said it's too big for a city like Skopje, and also for this square. If it was the only monument in that area, I'd say OK. But, there are more than 10 similar monuments in a radius... More

A metal statue of a warrior . Nothing bad as is , BUT its placed so high and in such an angle so that all you see is the underside of the horse. Pity.

This statue is so massive even if you were trying to avoid it you would still see it. Really, quite big.

Stop at the central square to admire Macedonia's national hero and a central tour de force of history. Alexander the Great is shown astride a stallion in all his might. All the locals and tourists will be gawking at him as well.

Powerful and excellent feeling in front of the major monument of major warrior in the history. It is very interesting to feel and see how Macedonians celebrate and honored theirs greatest leader and king. You have to visit it. Best time for visit is second half of May.

Most statues depict men holding revolvers and obviously attacking and shooting Mesmerizing when you study how the violence is depicted not your statute just. Showing a rider on a horse

The statue shows a gigantic horseman on a stallion. It is perched atop a huge column surrounded by bas reliefs in a Graeco-Roman style. There are also dancing fountains which come to life from time to time. In my opinion, the statue is too big and dominates the city centre. It seems out of context.
