Do not go that place with great expectations in winter time... Maybe because of the dead season there was not so much things to do rather than a walk or a small boat trip but even when you walk, you will experience similar views after...More

Very romatic place for couples and active people. We loved the view of the canyon. The restuarant is also very good.

Walked through the canyon on a not so warm Sunday, the nature was beautiful. This is not an excursion for a rainy day and requires good shoes! But it’s worth the effort. There is a very nice church from 1389 with beautiful frescoes and a...More

Beautiful place to go hiking when it's sunny. Don't take the cave tour though. The cave tour is not worth the money (1 small cave), but the normal boat tour is.

Easy day trip from Skopje. The taxi fare was only about eight Euros. Very peaceful and scenic. Worth taking a boat ride - just around the lake or to a cave. You can easily spend half a day out there, even a full day if...More

We stayed at the Matka canyon hotel, small room with great views of the canyon and mountains. Very good food at the restaurant.

To go there, you just have to pick bus 60 from the center of Skopje, until the last stop. It is about 45 minutes. Once there, the walk is really intuitive and easy, and worth the walk. Views are extremely gorgeous. Water at the restaurant...More

This place is well worth visiting if you have some time to spare. It's about 20 minutes from Skopje center by car. We were there in the fall and the colors in the canyon were gorgeous. A little overcast that day but still great. Bring...More

Matka lake is fantastic, must see for nature lovers. Not so easy to reach with public transport (we took a car).

Hi, I will echo another response that you received; that you just walk to the area near the resort hotel where you can rent a boat for about 400 MKD per person and see the lake on a guided tour. The path is somewhat narrow... More

I traveled to Lake Matka in the summer - July. I can only imagine it may be too cold in December. Do you think they may be closed during that time. I suggest you contact the Macedonian Tourist Office.

As a Canadian, a tourist visa is not required for us....just a passport. You should check with the Macedonian Embassy in Riyadh if a Philippine passport will suffice and may not need a tourist visa.
