We stopped at Windswept in late September just before the harvesting time for cranberries. Consequently, we saw them in full growth with lots of cranberries on the bushes. We were not familiar with cranberry bogs so this was an interesting quick stop.

Windswept is on Polpis Road and is owned and operated by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. With more than 200 acres there are several trails you can enjoy while viewing about 40 acres of bogs. Definitely do the trail that winds around Stump Pond

We took a beautiful walk there last summer but it happened to be a rare, hot and windless day. The kids HATED it. Too long, hot and boring for them. We did get rather lost and it seemed to take forever to find our way...More

Having been on-island for the past 20 summers I would recommend The Fairgrounds, Lolo Burger, The Sea Grille for a great lunch, Easy Street Cafe, and/or Brotherhood of Theives as good and less expensive places to eat. MES
