First constructed in the 17th century, this church was destroyed by earthquakes and rebuilt many times. What can be seen today are the remains from the last earthquake in 1976.

It was a beautiful place to visit, but it needs a good tour guide that explains every detail of what happened and why the city was moved to the new Guatemala City. Very beautiful place and need to go!

La Recoleccion is a massive ancient monastery which was destroyed by earthquake shortly after construction in the early 1700's. Beautiful facades, courtyards and archways remain intact, offering visitors glimpses into the structure's glorious, though short lived past. Another must see in Antigua.

This is the perfect place to do a photo-shoot. We did our wedding photo-shoot there and had a great adventure. We also saw a family who had a picnic there which sounded like a good idea as well. It is a great hidden gem in...More

I love that this site hasn't been completely restored - you see much of it as it fell. This visit I enjoyed talking to the guide at the site and watching a bridal photo shoot.
