About
Often referred to as the “lungs of the city”, this green forest oasis west of Split's old town area is a favorite amongst locals for hiking, biking, swimming, and rock climbing. The serene walk up to Telegrin peak includes 314 steps and rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes, if not, there's always the tourist train that can take you straight to the top. Take your time to explore the other cool trails—pitstops include an old Jewish cemetery, quaint churches, cave dwellings, a museum dedicated to local sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, and some of Split's best beaches. – Tripadvisor

- User A22 contributionsLovely views, pleasent walk!Amazing views at the top and lovely walk! Multiple view points along the way if your willing to sacrifice the best view for a shorter walk. The walk didn't seem too long and is an easy marked path to walk, the view at the top is lovely and some good place for photos/selfies. Only down side is along the path boutanical gardens are marked but when you go to them it says no entry? But there not that far out the way so it didn't make a difference to the walk. Also wild cats along the side of the oath in certain places!!Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 8, 2023
- Muhammad_91Ain Sukhna, Egypt4 contributionsGreat timesBeautiful park. Very clean and good view. On one side harbour on other old town. Very safe place even in night hours. Center of city is in nearby vicinity. Great times...Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten January 4, 2024
- tinaNtravelSan Jose, California2,094 contributionsGreat views from a beautiful parkThis is very much worth a visit as the scenery and views are beautiful. There are quite a few stairs to the top, but even if you only make it to the first viewpoint or a little beyond, it is worth it. Given all there is to see (botanical garden, zoo, playground, etc.) you could easily spend a half day or more on the hill. We unfortunately only had a few hours and spent it hiking around the park. If we return to Split, we’ll definitely spend more time exploring Marjan Park.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten January 16, 2024
- Antoni WKrakow, Poland144 contributionsThe best place in SplitGorgeous park! Located on a hill great for a walk or stroll with amazing views of the split, as well as the see. Very well organised with many interesting churches a zoo and a botanic garden. With some attractions for children and animal friendly. On the shore filled with beaches perfect to sunbathe and swim.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 21, 2024
- MSM923Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania172 contributionsWorth the walk for the viewIt's worth the walk up the steps to get the view over Split. There is a little cafe there which provides a nice setting for a drink with the panoramic view. Beyond that, I don't know that it's worth walking through the park. If you really enjoy walking, it's a nice enough trail, but there isn't really anything special about it and it is fairly uphill, even from the top of the stairs. If I had to do it again, I'd walk to the cafe, have a drink, and head back into the heart of Split.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 28, 2024
- Zoe CNether Heyford, United Kingdom192 contributionsWonderful Views of SplitThe first part of the walk through the park is initially up several flights of steps next to the park information office on the west side of the Riva. At the top of the steps you reach the Teraca Vidilica where you can stop for a drink or enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour. Alternatively, there is a viewpoint where you can take in the views for free. If you continue up the hill you come to the little church of St. Nicholas and you can climb further or head inland through the shady pine forest trails. Wear sensible shoes and take plenty of water. There are plenty of shady places to rest but it does get very hot! Well worth the climb for the fabulous views across Split.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024
- Joasi23South Yorkshire, United Kingdom2,007 contributionsThanks trip advisor . Great suggestionShort of time in Split and this was one of the highlights . The number of steps is manageable with reasonable fitness but we went in June when the heat is not so intense . Lovely cafe with views at the top to stop and get your breath before you take the photos . It’s easy to find the start of the steps if you head back from the front at the opposite side of the bay to the port . Or google like we did . Enjoy !Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 16, 2024
- Thomas G55 contributionsWorth the walk! It's a very nice area with lots of wildlife surrounding you. The walk isn't too bad but it is a lot of steps so be prepared for that. But once you go up, it leads to a spectacular view of the city of Split. I would recommend highly for pictures and to see the city from a height.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten July 19, 2024
- TravlnashWinchester, Virginia29 contributionsAmazing ViewsAmazing views of split and the harbor. The stairs are well worth the view! There is a small church, a restaurant and the old Jewish Cemetery at the top. Signs pointed to a zoo but I did not explore that area. - McCAliMontreal, Canada48 contributionsTop beaches along the coast and a nice view at the peakWalked up the many steps at high noon on a hot hot day, but the view was worth it! Then we took the public bus to take a look at all the beaches. We came back the next day to Bene beach as it has a lot of shade and a little resto/bar with a washroom. There are several beaches accessible by the bus (number 12), any of them would be good. The water in Croatia is AMAZING, crystal clear. Tips: - Get the Promet app for Split public transportation. With this app the bus fare is 1€ for 60 mins versus 3€. - Bring water shoes if you have them, but you can get away without them at Bene beach. - Bring toilet paper for the washroom as they don’t always have. - There are small changing blinds available, if you are more comfortable, they look like advertising and there are two changing “rooms” in the back side of them.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten September 6, 2024

Great views of the city, go on an overcast summer day just for the cover of the clouds as it is a hot walk. There are roads for accessibility use (pushchair, wheelchair albeit it's hard). You can get the bus up and down but we walked, a nice medium challenge. Bring water, just past the city streets there is a restaurant terrace that you can buy reasonable drinks from. We took some good pictures at the top on the wall, there's a flag at the top, that's about it.

For the lovers of nature, it is an absolute must in Split. I recommend walking first for a coffee in Prva Vidilica cafe and restaurant, then continuing to the firemen observation point and then walking down pass the zoo. If too tired, take often rests - and do bring some water with you

This actually is a great 1-2 hr walk steadily up a large hill. Faster to take the stairs but there aren’t railings and I have questionable knees! We took the road which was beautiful and at the beginning their is a lovely restaurant. We stopped for photos. We took the stairs down, much faster and had lunch with a view at the restaurant. There is a beautiful old Jewish cemetery nextdoor, not to be missed. At the top Croatia’s pride is easily identifiable in their flag of hard won independence as a sovereign country.

Moderate walk up steps above Split for a panoramic view of this beautiful city and port. Easy to find stair entrance around the bay. Must see for those able to maneuver the steps.

We decided to set off early morning to make the trek up to the top of Marjan Park. Let's say it did not disappoint, its not worth doing the walk unless your making it to the top, when you reach the top you are welcomed by the Croatia National Flag which is seen from the Split Town Centre. At the top there is a standing area and sitting area to get lovely photos.
Definitely worth the walk as its completely free doesn't take your whole day and very refreshing to do 😊
Highly recommend 👌

The walk to the top (flag pole and large stone cross) is done in 3 stages from street level.
Have a rest one-third of the walk up (it is the only Cafe and toilet so take advantage of the facilities and initial views).
Continue the walk to the strange building that is named the zoo. This is about two-thirds of the way up.
Prepare for the final ascent (the last 300+ stairs) up to the summit.
Great views and well worth the climb.
For those less athletic, a local electric bus runs every two hours to the "zoo" area.

It is worth it to go there during sunset, for example we went at around 18, 18.30. Then you can reach some viewing points. We thought they would be accessible by car but you need to leave your car there and you can only access the park on foot or by bike. So we had to go up on foot which takes more time but at least the way was asphalted. The sky was beautiful on that day so it was really poetic. I am sure there are much more places to check out in this park as far as viewing points go.

It has a lot of steps to climb but it is worth the suffering , the view is amazing. You can see the whole city from up there and when you take your view just a bit on the right you can see the whole horizon. Very nice and very beautiful Im glad Ive been up there.

At first, I thought I might visit the park "if I had time...but probably not." Well, I ended up jogging there every morning before starting my day of sightseeing in the city and in the region. The park is huge and therefore offers a great escape from the people cramming the tight streets of ancient Split. There are well-marked paths and plenty of friendly locals who can point out the sights. There are also multiple overlooks culminating with the massive flag pole at the peak. There is a small zoo, ancient Jewish cemetery and cafe as well. If you venture further, you will run across a tiny medieval church and the likely-reconstructed cottage of a key historical character in Split history. It is true that the only way to access the park (other than by car, I guess) is via some pretty steep streets and steps but for me (and for my family), the climb was worth it!

Relatively steep 30 minute walk with lots of steps to the top of the hill, but well worth it for the fantastic views over the city and surrounding coastline. We carried on over to the other side and had a refreshing swim at beautiful Kasjuni beach. From there it was about 40 minutes walk back along the road to the city again. Felt like a relaxing day out in nature even though it is so close to the city.

Can you walk towards Teraca Vidilaca from Old Town ? And is this restaurant a hood starting point for walking in Marjan Park?
Written July 13, 2023
I have red about a little train from old town to the top of Marjan Park. Is it still possible to go by that train?
Written October 2, 2019
We didn't see that train at the top so we don't know IF it's going.

Здравствуйте, каким транспортом можно доехать до парка из центра Сплита.
Written September 20, 2019

Is it possible to have a barbecue at this location? Or any park near Split?
Written April 26, 2019
I’m sorry I wouldn’t know about other areas but there is lots of signs of huge fire risk inside the park so I’d imagine not allowed
