About
With beautiful blue water and great panoramic views of the Old Town and Lokrum Island, Banje Beach is one of the Dubrovnik’s most popular spots amongst locals and travelers. Soak up the sun on the golden sand or get your heart racing on one of the beach’s jet skis or water tubes. The beach is also home to a selection of restaurants and cafés on the waterfront so you don't have to go far to grab a bite or recharge in the shade. If you’re looking for a cocktail or two, head to the beach club, which becomes a busy nightclub at sundown. – Tripadvisor

    Short walk from the walls
Walk from the main gate in the walls about 10 minutes and access by some steep steps . After spending a few days sight seeing it was nice to have some time relaxing and watching the swimmers. We didn’t pay for the expensive sunbeds as we only stayed an hour or so, the rocks to the right side of the bar were full of people on towels and it was a nice spot where you could jump in the sea or watch the many boats in and out of the harbour,

    We enjoyed it!
Not the cheapest place but I feel some of the reviews here are a bit unfair! Great views across to Lokrum island, shingle underfoot so not the nicest of beaches but it served a purpose after a morning of kayaking and we just wanted to chill and have some drinks! We had good waiter service and the cocktails and beer was very good! Really comfortable sunloungers. Short walk from the city walls/old town.

    RIP OFF
Beautiful beach which is public. The restaurant / sun bed staff rude/abrasive and at 25 euro for one sun bed plus 8 euro for the tiniest umbrella is a total tourist rip off. When we went to corgi these were free with purchasing drinks or food. What a shame.

Poor service at the bar and restaurant lets down an otherwise lovely little beach.
Lovely little beach, even if busy at times - a short walk from the Old Town and looking out over Lokrum. White pebbles with crystal clear sea and all the facilities you could want, if you want them. We didn’t hire anything and just used our towels. I imagine it can be heaving in the summer but my only complaint (hence the average rating) is the poor attitude of the staff (most of them it seemed?!) in the bar and restaurant area. We only visited briefly during the peak heat, to enjoy a cold beer or Coke, but the service was always slow and indifferent. At times I could swear waiters were purposely looking every except where customers were waiting to be served. Sometimes you could get the attention of someone and despite them having nothing to do they would go off and find someone else, only for the eventual order to take a long time to arrive too. There are worse things to deal with in life but not ideal when on holiday and paying Dubrovnik prices.

Lovely beach and clear water, very expensive to hire beds and equipment
Lovely small beach close to the old town, the water was clear and beautiful, all the family enjoyed swimming and playing in the water and we visited several times during our week stay as it was opposite our accommodation. The beach bar was lovely, we didn't eat there but food looked good and was priced similarly to other bars in the city. We had drinks several times and the service and facilities were great. The beach does get busy and isn't huge but we always managed to find a spot to sit, take your beach shoes because it's pebbley. There is a bakery and supermarket for drinks and snacks to take on the beach just before you get to the entrance. Paddle board hire and sunlounger hire is the most expensive I've ever known on holiday, €20 per hour for paddle boards and sunlongers are €25 for single and €70 for double for the day.

Stoney beach with expensive sunbeds - typical Dubrovnik beach!
Visited Banje Beach mid week in early June. A typical pebble beach which seems common in Dubrovnik. Despite the previous reviews, the staff were friendly and polite. Sunbeds are expensive but that appears to be the case in this area at €25 per bed and a parasol was €8 so slightly cheaper than St Jacob. The beds however are quite uncomfortable (cheap thin cushions). Drinks are expensive but they have a captive audience. The beach got very busy with most people lying on the stones as the beds are expensive. This beach is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the steep steps to get to it. All in all an ok beach but I guess Dubrovnik is not known for its beaches.

One of the better beach in Dubrovnik
Lovely beach, very steep stairs to get to the beach. Half sand half stones, nice lounger and parasol, very expensive €25 per. Drinks and food is affordable and people are nice. The water is lovely and clear a short ride away from the fortress. Lovely place

Good if you've got some time to spend here
My husband and I (34 yrs old) spent less than 2 hours here while we were waiting for a ferry to Hvar. A lot of the reviews complained about the price, and it was $80 for a 2 person covered sunbed- which is not worth it for the amount of time we were there, but if you're staying the whole day I think it's well worth it. It was a good atmosphere. A lot of reviews also complained about the service being slow- which it is, but that's not a Banje Beach thing, or even a Croatia thing, that's ALL of Europe. Service is just slower and less attentive in Europe than it is in the US and you just need to know that and be prepared for it. Since we were waiting for a ferry, we stored our luggage at a Bounce location a 5 min walk from the beach club instead of dragging our luggage down the stairs to the beach club. I'll also mention that the traffic by the cable car and Pile gate is really really bad, so it took like 25 mins for our uber to arrive to take us to the ferry, even though it said it was only 4 mins away.

Conveniently located popular but busy beach
Close to the old city, this is a convenient and safe access to swimming in the sea. When we visited, mid afternoon on two warm June days, it was absolutely heaving, with little space to sit. You can hire deck chairs or there is a pleasant restaurant on the beach. There are a couple of changing cubicles, good toilets, and a shower. But be warned - you need 50c pieces for your 30 secs under the shower. No one was able to give us any change - not at the restaurant or the watersports stall. Also take beach shoes - this beach is very stony!

    You should try it.
I can say that it is the only beach in the city center that can be walked to, it is only 5 minutes walk from Oldtown. The beach and sea are small pebbles, I recommend shoes or slippers. Since there are 70 steps down to the beach, it is not suitable for the elderly or disabled. There are paid and free sections, sun loungers are 25 €, umbrellas are 8 €. You can use your own umbrella and towel in the free section. We as a family liked it.

We were there in december, therefore the beach resort behind the beach was under construction and the beach looked quite a bit rough with construction materials thrown everywhere. However, we sat down for about an hour and had some drinks from the market. The scenery was great as you could see lokrum island and look back over the walled/old town of dubrovnik. Was one of the most relaxing moments of our trip and we really enjoyed it. If your in the wall walking towards the beach I suggest stopping at the bakery and the market for some snacks and drinks! :) The beach looked like the carribean, so pretty!

They should change the management and be less of a rip off really. That’s the only way I see this place improving. Food was waaaaay expensive, we just ordered 2 main dishes and 3 drinks (beer, glass of wine and Red Bull ) , I had octopus just to cut it I needed maybe a chain saw and to chew it probably I should have borrowed a shark jaw to be able to swallow it (it was tasteless basically ) , my husband ordered lamb chops and what he got is fat chops. Bill was 120£ . 2 loungers at the beach we’re for 40£, and I was a bit thirsty and went to the bar to have a glass of water he told me you pay for tap water . This place is a tourist trap money milking machine . Even to shower from sea water you have to pay. Staff are rude and unprofessional . Avoid this place and I highly recommend Sunset beach (easy parking, quality loungers and affordable, very very good restaurant with delicious food and amazing staff , free wifi , free shower etc .

Beach was ok, still pretty busy considering there are usually 5x more tourists at this time of year in normal circumstances. Water nice and warm but currents and I suggest water shoes as it’s a pebbly beach. Be careful you don’t get ripped off. We were charged 400HRK (about £48) for the use of two sun beds and the umbrella. Maybe come later in the day as there were people around us who came late afternoon and used the sun beds for free.

Yesterday we had a table reservation there. Friend celebrated birthday, we were shocked how much rude they were. We got tested few min before so that our entrace can be approved. Already there very rude, but okay.. We entered sit there and payed bottle. In mean time one friend is finished with job and is going to test and coming. On the entrance shock-they don't give her to enter the club even with the confirmation that she is negative against covid. We are waiting for her, buying a bottles, sitting still.. After few minutes inspection is coming, we heard and the employers are saying that everyone who is not vaccinated/has a negative test in last 48h must leave the club. So there are double standards, we spent pur money to have a tests and someone non vaccinated an non tested came in club to party just like us? Our friend waited about half and hour in a front of club in a hope they will approve her entrance. They didn't.. And after that all Franko Đugum the employer is very rude against my friends, pulling one of them, screaming on her because she showed him dissatisfaction about everything-money spent nonsense, friend waiting in a front of club.. You don't relate like this according to guests, especially according to woman who are much fragile than you. Zero point and still waiting for someone to apologize cause that's the less what they can do for this trauma.

We came here twice whilst visiting Dubrovnik.

Positives: lovely beach, really nice to cool off in the water on a hot day and good tunes from the bar. Local toilets & bar nearby, and (stoney) beach you can sit on for free with your towel.

Negatives: drinks and sunloungers are really expensive, and customer service at the bar (table service) is really slow and poor. One waitress we had on both days didn’t smile or talk an inch, only time she dared to utter her voice to us was when she was coming off shift and asked us to pay our bill…safe to say she didn’t get a tip

We headed to the beach for the day as we knew there were sun beds. They are pricey! €58 for two and an umbrella. But they are thick comfy cushions with pillows too. As it was part of a beach club, and we we’re here for big birthday celebrations we splashed out and they we’re very comfortable!

Disappointingly the service was poor. There were wait staff moving around the beach but they didn’t respond to any calls of excuse me. We headed to the bar for lunch after failing to flag someone down on the beach and waited around 20 mins to be served followed by a further 15 before we got drinks. It was very busy and it was lunch time, but I did feel like we were invisible at times. When our food eventually arrived it was warm so had clearly been sitting for a while. The calamari was delicious, but it would have been great had it been hotter.

Practical note. If you’re going for the day, be aware that the building on the right (if you stand facing the sea) casts a shadow over the beach so beds on that side of the beach are shaded from around 4pm.

We had a great day but the service let this place down for the price.

Food was okay but would not be on my list to recommend in Dubrovnik. The view/setting is good, so would be good if having a drink.

If you looking to hire sun beds then there is a sign saying 100 kuna per bed and 50 kuna for an umbrella

Major rip-off. They know they’re the closest beach to the center of Dubrovnik so price and act like they’re the best that’s around. Paid really high prices for service that anywhere else would be considered as not customer service friendly. At the end of the day they did not want to provide a receipt for what we purchased and said they needed all copies of the receipts. Very strange and suspicious.

Sunbeds started at 200 kuna (around 30€) and you were so close to everyone else and no chance to even walk. Old and dirty sunbeds with old umbrellas as well. Sea was fantastic and that's why they are so pricy in everything starting from a simple bottle of water. A lot of people since it has a good location, but make sure to go on foot because to find free or paid parking is impossible. Not worth the money. Good wifi though.

Mixed feelings about this place and the 3/5 is because the sunbeds are so expensive.
You can go and sit on the non beach club part of the beach and not have a sunbed but that is not ideal. Or you go and you pay the beach club.
In September 2021 the plastic sunbeds are 200 kuna for 2 beds and an umbrella, the wooden sunbeds are 300 kuna for 2 beds abd an umbrella. We felt this was expensive compared to Kos for example where beds are free or about 2.5 euros.
The sea is lovely- pebbles and quickly becomes deep. The beach is quite crowded and Sandy/pebbly (but we expected this) and we were unlucky enough to have some people who played their own music even though there was beach club music (not too loud) but thankfully didn’t last long - just rude though.
Beach club drinks are very expensive.
We won’t rush back but it’s convenient for the old town.
