A splendid beach!
Aug. 2020
We spent 8 days in Zadar in late August 2020 and each day we went to this beach. The grey picture I've been seeing here on Tripadvisor really does not do it any justice. The water is crystal clear, there is plenty of shade under the trees (yes, in that case you need to get there before 10am) and you can also rent super cheap sun-chairs for 30kn/person for the entire day. There are nice bars around where you can get coffee in the morning, or some beer at the afternoon. There are also great fast-food places with a great sea view. We took the opportunity to indulge in some water activities like jet-ski and pedaline, for very reasonable prices. Mind, this is not really a party beach and it is family friendly.

Very long beach, different areas

Kolovare beach, really good beach for all ages either as couples, families or groups.
Me and my girlfriend found an excellent spot where we could relax and get a tan we was right by the cafe/restaurants which isn't busy but used throughout the day, the prices are reasonable. Not saying very cheap but also not expensive. If you want hot drink it's 11kn which work out at about £1.50.

They have a beach pool where its a enclosed pool but uses the sea its very good to get little kids used to swimming, it is used for swimming races but really good.
We mainly used to sea which throughout the walk you see plenty of opportunity to use the sea its so refreshing.
In the main entrance, there is basketball courts, wash area, diving area (into sea) 2 volleyball courts. Down the road about 5 minutes is a supermarket to get snacks and drinks and 15 minutes down road is a massive spar.

Would highly recommend visiting this beach whilst in Zadar.

Lovely but not a lot of shade
Sep. 2019
We come here every September, it’s the locals beach and over the last year we have noticed it becoming overly busy with other tourists. Older locals can be unfriendly if you sit in the shade under ‘their trees’.
There are sun loungers for hire but arrive before noon if you want one.
Lovely swimming spot with clear water and stunning views, good bars , showers, toilets, changing area.
No sand, it’s pebbles and concrete like most of the coastline

Not famed for great beaches, but once in the water Kolovare was SUPERB
Sep. 2019
On our travels the ability to grab a swim is a real tonic for us!
Having walked from our B&B into the old town past here several times, we thought we'd need to try the water.
Pebbly beach with some hard deck areas & the beach drop is steeper than normal so it ain't going to be elegant getting wet even with booties!

Once in the water & swimming around it was superb. Deeper water with a translucence & the shimmering pebbles giving it a special effect.
The view of the parting/returning Ferries from the outlying islands had us remembering our great time on Dugi Otok just days before.

Retreated to our shady spot with our towels under one of the fixed Bali umbrellas, only to find we were being edged out. Hey this isn't Bondi Beach, alas the parting salvo at Bondi is to (inadvertantly ) flick sand off your towel ... alas no sand. Chucks.

Not the best beach we went to in Croatia. Very pebbley, easy to park the car, easy to get refreshments. Water was so clear it was unbelievable!

Rocky beach with pebbles
Sep. 2019
Pebbled beach with fixed umbrellas. Plastic sunbeds for hire which is great otherwise very hard surface to lie on. Coffee shop with good coffee, ice cream bar with gelati. But in order for something to eat, you have to go to other places. At low tide, it's really hard to get into the water, have to walk on big rocks that hurt your feet. Difficult to balance if you have some walking disability. Handicap chair lift some hundred metres away. Very salty crystal clear water, but I would rather get into the water at another place.

Beautiful clear sea but not a great beach
Sep. 2019
There is a convenient free car park close to the beach or you can park in the road if you are lucky. Access to the beach from the road is via stairs or slope.
Shade is at a premium. The few umbrellas are quickly taken as are the shady areas under trees etc. The beach is largely gravel and the surrounding area grass and dirt so take a beach mat for you towel if you have one. There are a couple of bars on the beach with lovely views to seaward. On the road above the beach there are three cafes where you can get a reasonably priced pizza, chips etc.
There is a reasonable standard toilet on the beach although not in the best repair at the time of our visit.
Activities are available such as jetskis, pedalo's and kayaks etc as well as an inflatable fun park. However, these disappeared in early September.
The sea is crystal clear and quite good for snorkeling with plenty of fish to see but take some water shoes as it is very rocky underfoot.

Pebbled beach with beautiful crystal clear water
Jul. 2019
Not your typical beach - pebbled/stone terraced area with some umbrellas and shade providing trees. Recommend bringing water shoes, a pad/yoga mat to lay on. Busy but not too crowded (nothing like the jersey shore). Water is clear blue/green. Very clean considering its location so close to the city.
Several bars overlooking the water and large inflatable floating park that you can use for a small fee. Kids loved it. We enjoyed sitting at the cafe overlooking and having a few drinks.

Public pebbled beach with clean and cristal clear water. With common umbrellas and trees where you can stay if you do not have umbrellas with you. We love it. 100% recommended.
