This square is less busy than the main ones and is more relaxing. The five Wells and the archaeological remains are very interesting to look at and enjoy a drink

One of my favorite squares in the city of Zadar. Something is always happening here in summer time. I love it.

There is well marked explanation through signs of the significance of all 5 wells which are capped off. Currently part of a playground you will discover the small plaza and surrounding walls are easy to locate in the old city.

These five wells in a lovely plaza were built to provide a city under siege with water to survive, and then someone figured out that the enemy could cut off the water supply at its source. Still nice to have five wells, though.

Until 19C, the five wells at the centre of the square still functioned as the water supply for the town.

Old Square in Zadar. We enjoyed walking through the Old Town and drinking in the atmosphere. Simple place but worth visiting if close by. Wouldn't stay long here, but worth a walk through.

We came upon the wells by accident when wandering South East out of Zadar Old Town. The layout is simple. There are 5 similar wells, each with a pulley wheel, set to one side of a square. It's a tranquil location for a moment of calm before or after visiting the bustling town centre.

An interesting space, off to the side of another pedestrianized square. Contains five capped wells (hence the name) & the captain's tower, which the visitor can climb for a good view of the surrounding buildings, parts and ports.

5 historic wells in a square! Pretty to see and take photos, it is definitely worth visiting but you don't need to spend very long to see it. Would be good if there was a plaque with some more information. There are cafes and the park right next to it so you could just sit for a bit and watch... More
