    Impressice place
We visited Kotor Old Town twice. First we arrived by ship with a group and we had very little time to explore this rich historical town. We returned in two days by bus and spent more time there. It’s located in the corner of the bay of Kotor. The Old Town has preserved its typical 12th-14th century Mediterranean architectural style. I like its narrow streets, small squares and nice churches. It is a UNESCO World Heritage sight, I think a must-see place.

    Great Old Town
Kotor old town is lovely , steeped in history with great views over the harbour . All the squares and alleyway are packed with bars, shops , restaurants, icecream parlours which are unreal and lovely gift shops and a mini bazaar. You can walk around the walls of the town or just outside you book all kinds of tours on and off the water. It can be very busy when the cruise ships are in and i would imagine in high season too as its quite compact. Very pretty with great views.

Lovely Old Town, but Full of Tourists and Souvenirs
You will want to spend some time wandering the old city, the narrow streets and the open plazas. You will find a lot of places to eat and drink, and you will find a lot of souvenir stands that sell the same junk. And you will find a lot of tourists as this city has been discovered. Worth the trouble. Lovely.

A Smaller Version of Dubrovnik Old Town, but just as Fascinating!
My Uncle & I visited Kotor for the first time in June 2024. We had visited Dubrovnik and the Old Town there just a few days prior to arriving in Kotor, as we were on a cruise holiday. On the day we were here, there were 4 cruise ships in the harbour, including ours! The Kotor Old Town is a smaller version of Dubrovnik's Old town: full of eateries and souvenir shops, but Kotor has walls that run up the mountains behind the Old Town, which look a bit like the Great Wall of China! We didn't have time to walk up those walls on the mountains but it looked very challenging. Kotor seems to be a magnet for tourists nowadays, which is good for the local economy.

Great place for shopping. No VAT or other taxes. Replica purses and jewelry are everywhere. If you go, scratch the kitties for me.

We spent several hours at Kotor and enjoyed a lot this Medieval Old Town. It has many squares and many fine old structures. Narrow streets has many hidden gems, it is a beautiful Old Town with so many beautiful nice buildings.

We entered Kotor on our cruise ship, and it was breathtaking. The city is so beautiful and clean. The ship docked right by Old Town, so it was very easy to get on and off and walk around. We did a tour from our cruise ship that included Kotor, as well as Budva. On our walking tour in Kotor, we stopped at the Cathedral of St. Triphon and the Maritime Museum. We would love to come back and spend some additional time there. If you are not into visiting sites, go to one of the beaches in the area that looked spectacular as well.

In search of history, that was us, and our goal was seeking the Medieval relics of Old Town Kotor. The Old Town is triangular-shaped, not terribly large, and the squares are repositories of some mighty fine old structures.

The coats of arms (or family emblems) probably could tell a tale or two about the people who lived here, what they lived through, and the hiccups along the way. But for us tourists, out on a stroll, all we can do is marvel at the legacy these people and their dwellings lift behind.

Kotor is a delightful Old Town with so many reminders of the past.

Visited for 1 1/2 hours as part of a buss trip, loved it so much we came back on a boat trip the next day.
What an amazing historical place, with its Basilica, and 12 other churches, all the little shops tucked away down small side streets, wonderful places to eat, and friendly shop and bar owners/workers. It felt like you was in a small market area somewhere in Italy.
We’ll worth a visit.
