I very much enjoyed this museum. I found the collection to be as good as the one in Sofia, with many fewer visitors. In fact I had the place to myself, without much noise of any kind. This was a pleasant surprise, since I have...More

We really enjoyed our visit to the Archeological Museum. The exhibits through the ages were fascinating. My favourite area was the Roman room. The museum was well laid out, clean and the toilets were good. No photography was allowed and it was explained to me...More

One of the richest archaeological museums in the country. There are collections with prehistoric to medieval artifacts. It's modern and interesting with good explanations.

We went there encouraged by other Tripadvisor reviews, and it is definitely worth a visit - it is very small (only 5-6 rooms) but it has very interesting pieces from the Plovdiv past. Must see.

Great collection. Its a walk thru time as to how mankind has evolved from prehistoric to modern age. Its only when the new becomes the old and obsolete that eventually redeem their value several hundred years ahead.

Another museum that has a STUPID no photo policy. I walked a considerable distance from my hotel to see it, as I had been told it is a world class museum. Well, it is. But, you will have to take my word for it, since...More

Spent an hour here enjoying the Thracian, Greek and Roman inspired artifacts. They have some pretty amazing things including some gold goblets and plates and a beautiful silver and iron death mask that was stolen, but found elsewhere in Europe and returned to the museum...More

Located just on the end of the main pedestrian street when you go from city center to the river direction. Just before river, left side. Not very big exposition around 10 rooms, but very interesting. Lot of gold showpieces. Ticket price 4.-BGN in September 2016...More
