Situated in a wonderful park, the museum is one of a kind, with state of the art restored traditional houses and households. Must see, must fall in love!

Museum Complex Astra in Sibiu is the place where I feel young gaian. Each visit to the Village Museum is a journey through time, in a world of simple, pure, hardworking peoples, resourceful and talented.

I can't help myself to consider this Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, which I visit at least at every two months, an endless source of energy based on its richness..old traditional houses, crafts, work shops, beautiful and interactive events, like fairs or concerts or theater performances, nice people and playful cats..a.s.o. Although I could reach the museum by bus no... More

Lovely day spent walking around the numerous buildings which looked lovely in the snow. None of the buildings were open to see into when we visited which was a shame. Nice taverna at the end of the walk around the lake

As previous contributors have mentioned, this open air museum has examples of Romanian architecture from different centuries. You can go inside some (the best bit) and there are people explaining how the different equipment works. Lots of examples of windmills. It is easy to walk round as the paths are wide and you could cut off bits if you didn't... More

This is a huge museum and for a complete visit is not enough one day. It is bigger than a village. There are houses from all over Romania, that is very good for a foreigner tourist that is interested in Romanian history and traditions. It is very complex, not having only houses, there are churches, schools, pubs and other buildings... More

A part of romanian history. Beautiful enheritage and tradition are very well preserved in Astra museum. You can learn about life in XIX century in Romania, about traditions and you can see the original romanian houses from the entire Romanian country. It is gorgeous.
