It is a small but impressive and educational museum. You can see traditional clothing types and also how they were created back in time.

If you love textiles go here! Great examples and make sure you get a demonstration on the Jacquard Loom!

Lots of interesting things to see, well laid out and information in English. The only down side was when we went upstairs to see the regional national outfits we were almost stalked by one of the employees, every step we took she was behind us which was a bit uncomfortable.

They had a great display showing different ways of weaving as well as an old mechanical loom they turned on for us. My favorite part though was their collection of traditional clothes from all over the country. This is a great little museum to visit for 1-2 hrs.

Being a Computer Science graduate, I thought I knew the history of programming and the use of punched cards containing data represented by predefined holes. But, I was surprised to see a punched card machine dating back to the 19th century in the form of the Jacquard weaving loom. The museum operator turned on the loom and I watched in... More

Small fee and friendly staff, always ready to tell you a little bit more about the exhibits. The spices room was fascinating, and I also got a chance to see the tattoo expo in the last floor (which is only temporary). The museum also has a large shop, where you can buy things made by local artists.

I had an excellent morning at this Museum seeing the textile exhibition, many many folk costumes, and especially important for me, a detailed exposition and display of the 'Turca'. This ancient, seasonal fertility ritual is performed at Christmas with dancers, carol dinners and a horned and masked animal figure with multiple layers of symbolism through cloth, colour, ribbon and bells.... A wonderful display of traditional costumes and textile manufacturing techniques. The laminated sheets handed out with English translation of labels were poor, not numbered correctly or well translated. Very frustrating if you're interested in textiles. Possibly you might be lucky enough to find a member of staff who speaks English, or go with a Romanian friend.
