We visited this mosque which was in a compound of 3 mosques. We could go inside the mosque though the arrangement to sit was different for the men and women. The carving inside the mosque was intricate especially on the ceiling.

This gorgeous cream-colored Islamic mosque is dedicated to a 13th century Muslim saint. Built on the site of an earlier 18th century mosque that covered the saint’s tomb, today’s mosque was last restored in 1943. It is impressive, both inside and out. Women and men worship separately and have separate entrances (first time I experienced this in a mosque). Ladies bring a head cover; shoes are left at the entrances. We visited with a guide who waited for us by the ladies’ side door. When we were done inside, we took a walk around to the back of the mosque. It is a shame the area is littered with so much trash.

North, beautiful architectural work but the place is very dirty located in a popular area with lots of people asking for money!!! And you are followed for the first time and just give 1 it to you
Send his friends! The place is difficult to reach the outside is very dirty full of abandoned rubble pity for such a religious building that does not represent his religion at all!

This is a nice piece of architecture. Both the outside and the inside have elaborated design and are a joy to watch. Me, my wife and our local guide had no problem entering the mosque but on the contrary were welcomed inside. Local women were however in their own part of the mosque. Photos allowed.

This mosque is in the middle of Alexandria and is incredibly beautiful! The only drawback is that women are not allowed inside the mosque proper and can only view it from a back room (and separate entrance).

The mosque was breath taking so beautiful, the art and workmanship was unbelieveable; you were given a bag to put your shoes in and the men had to wear a hat; ladies had to cover up neck, arms, legs, women and men pray separate. I liked that we were allow to see what a mosque look like and learn a little of their belief. We seen the Tomb of Mohamed Ali.
An over all good time.

Masjid (Mosque in Arabic) of Abu Al Abbas Al Mursi is Alexandria's largest Mosque and one of the most important Islamic monuments.
The eight monolithic granite columns, the colonnade of elongated arches and the beautiful marble floor make you witness the greatness ofthe architecture of the Islamic and Egyptian Civilisation.

This is a beautiful mosque and has a fascinating history. A tour guide will complete the visit because you must always remember this is a Mosque and people go here to pray!!! Ladies, please cover up, including your head when entering. The serenity and beauty of the place leaves me feeling humbled but relaxed each time I have been.
