We had a crazy ride up the hill in the back of the minibus. Was a lot of people there to view the sunset and it was worth it. Amazing view. The escalator is reversable!

Nice pagoda up there and view of the city's lay out. My dad grew up there half a century ago and pointed out the old city and where it had grown. It was neat. Gets hot even in November, they had cold drinks up there.

As with all other temples and pagodas, you will have to go barefoot and with either long trousers or wear a longyi which is the local sarong. They would offer to lend you one if you are in shorts. You would not have to climb up a stairs as there are escalators. Better to go just before sunset to get... More

Our tour guide took us to this site. We took the escalator to the top. We saw the sunset and left. The Pagoda itself was not that impressive. It is not that old. People only go to see the sunset over the Mandalay plain than leave abruptly. It is something to do in Mandalay.

Looking from above always nice to see. Good to go in late afternoon to see sunset, but if come earlier, it's just as much enjoyable. Mandalas not an interesting city or more correct you say not unique to Myanmar. Take from here a train to Hsipaw to really see Burma countryside, culture, people. Take food. Train departs early at 4... More

If you are in Mandalay, you shouldn't miss this place to go. You can see whole Mandalay view from this hill, such a nice place. Nice environment, friendly people, it was very good time.

The walk up to Mandalay Hill and the buildings on it is best made during the early morning, when it is not that hot. The are at least two ways up (the eastern one with more, the western one with less tourists). Even on the way up you have to take off you shoes as it is an biddhistic place.... More

We got a taxi to the car park at the top and then escalators. Taxi only 6000 kyat from centre. After enjoying the view we walked down barefoot so enjoying the temples on way down. Would be very tiring walking up!
