Spend a morning on ourLIVING RICE FARM,Come and let us show you how rice is grown on our farm, experience the life of a farmer and try your hand at some of the activities. Or just view it all from the comfort of our traditional Lao rice house balcony, which is surrounded by rice terraces and our organic vegetable farm. All the family can join in and there are great photo opportunities.

Our converted rice barn offers simple but comfortable accommodation for two, overlooking rice fields and mountains. Relax on the terrace and sample some of our home-brewed rice wine, walk to the ruined temple through our rice farm, be pampered with a massage then have afternoon tea, visit the local weavers who make our farm outfits before joining our farm family for a game of petanque or rattan ball!

Watch or join in the preparation of the Lao dinner then dine with our farm family before you retire for the night (maybe after a Beer Lao or two?). Wake up to a brand new day and a typical Lao breakfast before joining the Rice Experience for the morning

My boyfriend and I booked the half day rice experience and we absolutely loved it! Our guide was lovely and did a wonderful job of explaining the process to us in an exciting and interactive way. We all enjoyed getting muddy, ploughing the field with Rudolph the water buffalo and singing a traditional song as we planted the rice! I... More

Visiting the living land organic farm was one of my highlights in Laos so far. It's just very interesting to see how such an important product of the country is produced. The guide is a very nice person who speaks English very well and tells in an enthusiastic way about their farm. You will go through all 13 steps from... More

We had a wonderful experience learning all the 12 steps in growing rice. It is amazing to see how much time and effort there is in growing rice. Here they give you the chance to participate from ploughing muddy fields behind a buffalo, to planting seedlings, harvesting the rice, threshing the rice, grinding it and cooking it and other steps... My hostel didn't offer this but I had them call the number on the website and book it for me. It was 344k Kip and includes roundtrip transportation from the hostel. The tour was great and our guide was very enthusiastic. I like how it was so interactive. They provide water and hat so you don't need to bring any.... More

Came with 3 Children (aged 11, 9 and 8) and had an amazing time. Kids all loved mucking in (literally!), ploughing, planting rice and all the processes involved. Yummy rice products to taste at the end, very informative, friendly guide. Took the time at the end to show the kids how to make simple bamboo weaving products too 😀 Highly... More

the living land farm was a unique trip, with a great view and a memorable rice planting experience. (you get to plough the fields with a water buffalo!) the rice experience consists of 13 stages from planting to eating! definitely worth the trip and will come again soon!

Highly recommend this tour. It definitely is a "designed" experience, but extremely well done. Everything was enjoyable, unique, and memorable. Our guide, Li, was fantastic - knowledgeable, quick to smile, multi-lingual, and seemed to enjoy the job and people.

The Living Land farm supports several families that produce organic herbs, vegetables and I think fruits. It was started to try to change the devastating method of farming--slash and burn--Laos used in the past. Visitors get to plant rice in six inch deep mud if they want to and also plow with a water buffalo. I didn't do either but... More

My friends and I had the best day here! I was worried it would feel really touristy, but it felt very authentic. Definitely recommend staying for lunch!
