The Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre is where the fascinating world of Lao textiles comes alive! Set in the grounds of a stunning tropical garden on the Mekong, it's the perfect place to learn more about this unique Lao art. We offer free guided tours where you can meet our weavers, artisans and even the silkworms. We also offer a range of classes in weaving and dyeing, which as our reviews show, are an unforgettable experience. Our Silk Road Cafe by the river is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our "east meets west" inspired menu, or simply enjoy the stellar sunsets with a refreshing drink.

You certainly appreciate the work of master weavers after you attend this course -- it isn't easy, but they offer a lot of assistance! Also had a choice to dye 3 different colors of silk thread or 3 cotton napkins using natural elements (e.g., turmeric, annatto, indigo, etc). It's a fun day and well worth it!

Although woven items are everywhere in Luang Prabang, there's not a ton of info on how they're made, or by whom. The Ock Tok Pok center fills that void beautifully, with loads of people around to pepper with questions, a free tour (though it was canceled the day I went), and tons of displays full of great and specific information.... My group of 30 and I visited the Ock Pop Tok Crafts Centre this past January. Great place to learn about the many cultures of Laos. Great educational experience! I highly recommend a visit here when in Luang Prabang.

We enjoyed our half day bamboo weaving class at Ock Pop Tok. Our teacher (Sith?) was very knowledgable, patient and friendly. Their shop on site has some gorgeous products, in particular their range of scarfs and wall hangings were fabulous, eventually deciding to buy one of each. This is also a great place to sit and chill overlooking the Mekong... More

Even though the food and drinks itself are soso, but the view, atmosphere and free tour are quite awesome. It's a bit far from the center, but worth to go.

Very interesting discover Laos through textiles and for sure they have high quality and authentical local products. Perfect just to visit and learn about. But they practice absurd prices. You find exactly the same quality products in the museums shops for 25% the price. Initiatives to create economic opportunities for local artisans are great. But charging prices like this gave... This is a wonderful crafts center in the heart of Luang Prabang. Their weaving is unusual and outstanding. A good place for people who appreciate fine crafts. Far superior to what is offered at the night market. A lovely setting on a great street, with a smaller retail shop across the street. Great walking street with temples and eateries.

With modernisation, family structures are changing, and the art of dyeing and weaving peculiar to each village is being lost. The centre aims to keep the art going, and acts as an exhibition space, workshop and shop, with an excellent restaurant/cafe attached. The centre runs courses, from s few hours to days, to introduce visitors to the complexities of dyeing... More

If you are in Luang Prabang, this is a must visit. It's a bit of a drive by bike but they have a good bar and restaurant so don't hesitate to go there. They have a wonderful shop where you can buy nice beautiful souvenirs. They explain you the whole weaving process. From caterpillar to tablecloth. You can do art... More
