Directions; from the end of the night market road (Post Office end) turn left at the cross roads. Straight on until you reach 'T' junction then turn right. Go straight on out of town for about 4Km's and turn right where sign posted 'Tad Thong Waterfall' for a further 2.8Km's.The 500 hectare Tad Thong Nature Conservation area is easily accessible by Tuk Tuk, Car, Scooter, bicycle (geared preferably) or, for the more enthusiastic, on foot.Tad Thong is just 6km’s from Luang Prabang and offers a unique, paved, approx. 45 minute walk through dense jungle. For years the path has been hidden away from the public but is now open again for you to experience the beauty of the natural jungle and huge trees that once covered much of the land in this part of Asia. There is a Khmu village just off the trail which can be visited and when you have finished the walk you may wish to take a swim in the lake or eat and drink at the Restaurant. The waterfalls are spring fed, as are many of the falls in the area, and will reduce in size to just a trickle by the end of the dry season - but the Tad Thong area is more impressive as a Nature Jungle walk so the waterfalls should be looked at as a bonus and not the main reason for visiting.

i enjoyed swimming in the falls. The food was excellent and the whole place was full of tourists for a good reason. The bears were interesting as we learned about them in all of Asia. Also the reason they are there before going back in the wild.

The kids, loved the swimming, and the tour, we visited the bear sanctuary and donated som USD for the project, it's nice to see the project is going on and a lot of volunteers are there to help saving the nature.

A beautiful natural waterfall just a short distance out of town. While not as spectacular as Kuang Si Falls, this falls gives you the opportunity for a short hike through the forest, and a cool dip in a pool all to yourself. A lovely place to enjoy nature away from the madding crowd.

These falls are just a 15 minute tuk tuk ride out of town. The rock and bottom are all limestone and startling white. This makes the waterfall and pools a stunning shade of light blue that I have not seen outside the Great Barrier Reef. The water is pristine and you are able to swim here if you like. The... More

Very bumpy ride from Luang Prabang to the milky blue waters of this waterfall in several steps. You can swim here if you dare. There is a restaurant at the top, where there is a car park, and rescued bears can be seen at the bottom.

beautiful refreshing site, if you have trouble walking ask you guide to drive up and then walk down, or you can see the main waterfall from the highest site by car, otherwise it is a 15 minutes walk seeing different terraces of water

This cannot compete with the 'major' waterfalls in LPB but is very charming...and less crowded. A little hard to find, it is on the road out of town towards Vientiane on the right hand side. maybe a 15 minute drive from the Bus Station... there is a small admission charge and a simple restaurant. Like all waterfalls best seen in... More
