    Important work, sobering visit
This is a smaller center than others, but worth checking out. The UXOs everywhere, as well as the sobering documentaries presenting the victims make for a powerful experience. Also, your money can support a really good cause either by donation or buying some souvenirs.

UXO centres in Vientiane and Luang Prabang
UXO (unexploded ordinance) visit at the COPE (Cooperative Orthotic & Prosthetic Enterprise) centre in Vientiane (capital of Laos) was an eye opener. A must go. Videos available. Equally we went to the UXO in Luang Prabang - do go there also. NO entry fee, but u can buy artefacts, shirt or donate cash into a box. Very moving experience.

Two rooms in the ongoing district operations center. Both my children, who are usually quickly bored with museums, and actually sat down in the floor by the defused ordnance and asked me questions for half an hour and actually read the poster boards. This appears to have made some impact on them, a little more than the photos of the good and the great politicans smiling as they pose in the Center then go out and unlease more long lasting misery on civilians in the name of Freedom.

It’s a slight walk out of the main town but well worth it. Entry is free and you can spend approximately 1 hour here. This one is more aimed at the process of finding and removing the UXO rather than the recovery focus in Vientiane. There are bombs and shell casings on snow, and the movie is very sad but interesting to watch. Highly recommend.

The UXO center sheds a light on a very sad part of Lao history. I think anyone should go to educate yourself about something that was and still is a very impactful matter for the Lao people. The museum itself is small and clearly does not get a great deal of funding, so don't expect something spectacular. Nonetheless it's really worth going.

This small museum is free to visit and raises your understanding of the UXO siuation faced by the Laotian people. There are some very emotional videos showing how UXO victims became injured.

It shouldn't take more then an hour. Worth going, particualrly in wet weather.

Good explanation of the awful, outrageous bombing campaign on Laos by the US in the 60s and 70s. Unreal. Made us want to give them a pile of money but turns out it's not so easy (other than by dropping money in the box). The website (a little hard to find but TA won't let me list it) says the online donation system is coming soon. Sigh. Will do a bank transfer but... should be easier. Maybe a card or pamphlet with donation link. Loads of guilty Americans would donate.

Had a fair idea what to expect going of previous reviews. Nothing ceases to amaze us how much suffering people can inflict on each other. Well worth the visit and don't forget to watch the videos in the little theatre room at the back. It also highlights the work that is going on throughout Laos in an effort to make the country safe. You would expect that the nation responsible for most of the UXO should spend more money on cleaning up their mess !!

Sad to write this as I was really looking forward to seeing this centre.

Please put accurate opening times on your website/social media.
We walked 20 mins in the heat to get there at 10am on Wednesday (within opening hours) only to arrive and see it all closed up. A person nearby shrugged and said “closed”.

I had read a little bit Lao History before arriving so was really interested to see this place. It is very small but very informative and well worth the time to learn about the horrors of war. They also play a very moving video which provides futher information. Would recommend to everyone

I learnt so much about the horrific bombing of Laos during the Vietnam war (it is the most bombed country in the world per capita). And with up to one third not detonating, the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) continue to maim and kill as the people of Laos go about their daily life. The two films were well worth watching - one detailing the history and the other telling the story through the eyes of four children who have been terribly injured.
No charge for admission but donations to enable the organisation to carry on its vital work of education and clearance.
