For over two decades now, Jeddah International Market has always been part of my life as an expatriate here in Saudi Arabia. I do my shopping for grocery items at Sarawat Stores. For breakfast, lunch or dinner I have a choice between Jollibee (for fast food), Shawly, Ay Sarap and Cabalen (Filipino Restaurants). Most of my electronic items and gadgets were purchased from Sony. I shop for bargains at Orange and Bath for towels, comforters, and bed sheets. Likewise, I visit Al Hussam Optical whenever I need a new pair of eyeglass. My air cargo boxes are sent through LBC and there is a small ice-cream shop in a cozy nook next to the cargo office. Over-all, Jeddah International has always been a part of my activities and I am happy to keep on coming back.

This is one the market that kept original fittings and decorations for decades..
The same since 1980.. hardly any change.. started as the first luxurious indoor and Air-conditioned mall in jeddah..
The mall have 5 gates.. 2 east 2 north and 1 west.
This became since 1995 the filpino hub.. from veterans to the new arrivals. The supermarkets switched from international to Filipino food place. The management kept in good condition for all this many years.
Don't miss the live turtles at gate 2..
Good to mention they have a very good parking space unlike the new shopping centers.

This Mall has everything you expect to find in a mall. As I have been told it was the 1st mall being build in jeddah, hence do not expect any high-end fahion designed mall. Prices are reasonable food is ok, however you will not find any of the big US brands there.

I had visited the parlor recently and I must share this unhappy experience to caution others for the time it takes for few treatments. I was tempted to go for a straightening treatment as it appeared affordable but was not explained about the hidden costs in the consecutive treatment or the serum to be got after that. It was rush to get me into the seat before prior briefings. I had to spend nearly three hours while I was told that It would be just an hour before the start. I had my friend waiting for me all along and family outside. on the top of it, my hairdresser has rushed into a second phase washing before the usual time since I asked her about the time lag. I completely understand that every hair type is different and it would take accordingly but all I expected was a honest analysis as I was physically present. If she had looked at my hair and told me the right timings I wouldn't have made my friends and family wait behind. They also had to rush the procedure as I told them I was running late and I'm not sure if my hair texture is good or could cause damage because of this entire process. On the whole I didn't find them being empathetic for my long waiting hours nor offer a proper discount.

At one time this was a good market. It's old but not historic. It has clothing, jewelry shops restaurants and a supermarket. I was expecting much more. My first trip to Jeddah I went to a very good shopping mall. The town has charged very much in 30 years.
