The area
Neighbourhood: Al Quoz
Al Quoz sits literally at the halfway point between old and new Dubai. At first sight it has little to recommend it: warehouses and factories dominate the area, with some residential areas on the outskirts. Heavy goods vehicles roar up and down the roads and laborers stop at small hole-in-the-wall cafes for a cheap lunch. But it is fast becoming a magnet for art lovers: Alserkal Avenue is a significant contemporary art hub, home to 25 galleries and arts spaces, with ambitious expansion plans. The galleries host exhibitions, talks, panel discussions, auctions, and community events. If you love art, pass by to visit the galleries, it’s a great opportunity to get a sense of art and community in the region and to sit alongside key influencers and artists as they go about their day.

This place gets better with each visit.
There are more food and beverage options on each visit - Joe & The Juice and GOAT have recently opened and La Serre is on the way.
There are lots of cool art installations, a cool waterfront park and it is now accessible via a paved footpath/ cycleway along the canal.
It also offers great views to the Downtown skyline.

D3 is a stunning modern development out by Dubai Creek.
The district comprises lots of very good food and beverage outlets, some of which are licensed, some cool niche retail shops and a warehouse gym. There also lots of fantastic modern art installations.
There is lots of parking and a well sized outdoor park on the creek offering lots of seating, toilets, a skate park and a small basketball court.
As an alternative to driving, you can walk along the canal, although the last few hundred metres of the walk are on the sand.

When you think that Dubai has done it all, this place comes and shows you that the city still has a lot to offer and a lot to amaze with.
D3 are marvellous trendy quarters built to house organizations of the fashion industry wishing to be located in Dubai. Everything from the streets to the building of the area reflect the aspects of the fashion industry from funky building entrances to large windows full of designs to really cool advertisements everywhere.
You can reach D3 by car only but it is a matter of short time before Dubai figures out tens of mass transportation connections.
There is not much to see as a tourist in this area as it is very much of a commercial space but since it is fairly new and still under development, so it is also a matter of time before loads of restaurants, bars and attractions get to the area and make it a big destination. There are a few restaurants over there at the moment and it it’s actually quite nice going there as you can escape the grind and traffic of the city.
I lived D3. It reflects the ingenuity and aspirations of Dubai and its leaders. I recommend passing by it if you happen to be in Dubai and if you live there, it is actually nice to stroll down its streets on a cool afternoon and grab a bite in one of the amenities

The name of the place is what it is. Am not an artist myself, and often could not understand the artist's point of view. I could only appreciate the artist's work and be impressed.

The Block - a park, a calming spot on the waterfront with amazing views of Downtown skyline. Beautifully laid out with skatepark, basketball court, table tennis tables, climbing walls, a cafe that allows customers free use of electric scooters.

What a great place!!!! Unfortunately only saw a bit of this creative cluster of buildings as it was still too hot to walk around, despite going there at 8:00pm. Will certainly go again in the winter months. Had snacks and coffee at The Light House, beautifully done up with excellent tasting sandwiches and a great decaf cappuccino! Our server, Kenny was professional, helpful and friendly!
Art on the walks, interesting spinning stools to sit on, 3D portraits and a magnificent view of the Burj and Dubai’s mesmerising skyline.
