In the historic district, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai, is an affordable 10-minute traditonal wooden boat ride -- really a taxi. Take the abra from the Bastakiya side, look around the textile souk and the art galleries, and end in the gold souk. Used by 15-20 million passengers each year, the Abra Dock in Bur Dubai is a memorable cruise in the water.

At the creek stop, next to Meena Bazar the Abra or a local boat takes you from one side of the creek ( Meena Bazar or Bur Dubai) to the other side ( Deira) for as low as 2 AED. This is like a public...More

This is old way of travel to dubai. We used abra 5-6 times during our stay as we were staying in Diera side. It took 20 people at a time for 1 Aed per person. To catch Ferry steamer Ride this is best.

Taking the abra for 1 AED to cross the creek is a real bargain. It takes you to the dock of the gold and spice souks, well worth seeing. Check out the rudder on the boat! This old form of transportation shows that change is...More

Nice traditional experience beats having to take a taxi across the creek and dirt cheap too. A pleasant experience recommended .

A contrast with new Dubai, this area in Bur Dubai gives you an old dubai exposure. It is surrounded by old Iranian shops selling local products and hotels. The abra can be taken to go from bur dubai to the spice and gold souks in...More

Probably not changed much in 60 years, except the dhows are now full of mobile phones and fridges, not spices and herbs.

The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the

These Boats call Abra in Dubai. It's available behind Temple area in Bur Dubai or from Deira ( Another side of Bur Dubai) but not compatible for Wheel Chair. No problem for infant or toddlers.
