Top ways to experience The Dubai Fountain
The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

Spectacular. No Need for Prime Viewing Tickets
The Dubai Fountain is spectacular plus it's free. Hanging out at the Fountain and looking up at the impressive Burj Khalifa is almost as enjoyable as the experience of riding to the top of the Burj. We made the mistake of purchasing tickets to get access to a prime viewing area. We sadly missed our scheduled time as it took longer than expected to get here because of an Uber delay and traffic plus we got lost in the maze-like Dubai Mall. However, purchasing such tickets is completely unnecessary as there are plenty of good viewing spots.

Try To Get A Spot Next To The Pool Before It Gets Dark!
I went to view the fountain right after my cool and fun experience at the top of the Burj Khalifa. While the fountains shoot high, and once can still see everything quite well, had I got there a bit earlier, I would have been right next to the giant pool and got a "front row seat" for viewing. Otherwise, there were SOOOOO many people there also wanting to enjoy the show. However, I still fully enjoyed the fountain show complete with great accompanying music, and was still able to get very decent video and pictures from the height and area I was standing at. The show lasts for about (10-15 minutes?) can't totally remember the total time though. Also synchronized with the fountains, is the Burj Khalifa which puts on it's own light show against the building itself which was also really fun to watch with all the different light patterns and colors.

    Great sights!
After a full day at the Mall, we stayed on at the end of the day to see the fountains. We caught a couple of the music shows - all taking place every half hour. The music and lights (came on at 7pm) were quite breathtaking, quite atmospheric and the whole background scenery all adds to the show. Could see the cafes and little boats for those wanting to watch for a while - would have been nice to have done that. Well worth seeing this - I'd go back to see if I was in Dubai!

    Mesmerizing Experience
The Dubai Fountain is an incredible show of water, light, and music right in front of the Burj Khalifa. The way the water dances to the music and the lights is seriously amazing. It's like they're all in sync, creating this magical experience. The water jets can go really high, and the colors make it all feel so alive. You can watch it from different spots and it never gets old. It's one of those things that just makes you go "wow" and feel lucky to see it.

    beautiful place and spectactular entertainments
lights, music, water. everything is dancing along as the music plays. shows are repetitioning every 20 minutes from 7 pm ,i guess. each consecutive performance differs from the other within a evening. just too hot in the open air, but the dubai malls in the visinity to hide at any time in there to chill.

    Book the boat tour.
We went on the first boat tour of the day. It was fantastic to be right on the water, right next to the fountains. We came back a couple of hours later to watch the show with all the lights, however be prepared as the courts are huge! Once it's dark. Definitely worth the small amount to be out on the boat.

    Amazing experience
The fountains were amazing, they were in sync with the music and created an amazing atmosphere. We did think of getting into the boats to view them up close but thought we could view them better from afar. Definitely worth the view.

    A must see
A must see when you’re at the mall, viewable from the Nike store and the Apple Store as well as standing next to the water. Try to see them from as many different views as you can. I think there are two afternoon shows maybe 1 and 1.30 then they are every 30 minutes from 6/6.30 in the evening. Best views imo are at night when everything is lit up, it was incredible. The shows are alternated in their theme so they are different each time, one of them is in Arabic, the next British and the other is operatic 👌

Good to see, best to grab a meal overlooking the fountains.
We took a place in the restaurant opposite the Mall, which gave us a good view of the fountains. There's a different show every half hour, so if you ahve a meal you can see two or three versions, and they're all quite impressive. Clearly best to go at dusk and see the shows as it gets darker.

Dubai Mall Fountains - a must
The Dubai Mall Fountain display is a tourist must. Not only is it free, it is also a lovely way to end a shopping trip. We saw them twice. Once at dusk and once at night. Night is better as the fountains are lit. However, the spectacle only lasts 3 minutes.

The Dubai Fountain is a wonderful attraction. In the shadow of the Burj Khalifa you can see a beautiful half-hour show, which is always accompanied by various pieces of music.

The same show never comes in a row.
Especially at night or after sunset you can only recommend everyone to watch the spectacle.

It is best if you take the VIP tour of the Burj Khalifa and can watch the whole thing from above. This makes it even more spectacular.

The fountain is no doubt the crown of the area. It starts at 18:30 and repeats after every 30 minutes. The last show is at 22:30. It's free for all but during the COVID-19 pandemic the area is regulated by security and the dubai mall access is closed if the area gets more people. Hence better to go a few minutes in advance.

The fountain area is not crowded and we could get a nice spot near the Souk-al bahar side railing which is in the centre of the 2 large fountain circles.

I've seen the fountain from 'At the Top Burj Khalifa' and I would still recommend seeing it from the ground level to be able to appreciate it in it's full glory. From the top i.e. 125th floor of the Burj Khalifa, it seems like little sprinklers with lights :D

The show runs every half hour on the half hour and a good way to spend 10 minutes away from the mall. We viewed at night excellent light and water show set to music which can be a surprising choice. The Burj Khalifa lit up in the background with its own light show before the show started. Can be very crowded but move around a bit and generally easy to find a good viewing point.

Located just outside the Dubai Mall with Burj Khalifa in the background, Dubai Fountain is one of the topmost attractions of Dubai. Every evening there is a 5 minute musical fountain show at this site which is breadth taking. Huge crowds turn up for the fountain show, so it is advisable to reach there and chose your place to stand 15 minutes prior to your preferred show time. Best time to visit the place is after sunset to enjoy the colourful musical fountain show with Burj Khalifa in the background.
Access to the fountain is free.

Anyone visiting Dubai and also the Dubai Mall should definitely visit the Dubai Fountain, where water games with water jets and music take place under the Burj Khalifa. Around the Burj and other adjoining buildings there is a huge artificial pond, which is only about a meter deep and which is bordered by some hotels, restaurants, a park and in which many water pipes have been laid for this unique and really spectacular spectacle to be able to show.
Every 30 minutes in the afternoon there is this wonderful and great spectacle that always attracts a large number of spectators. It is of course very interesting in the evening when it gets dark, then various pieces of music are played that change again and again. The underwater headlight-lights with the water nozzles, which sometimes shoot up the water many meters high in columns or in different patterns, are impressive.
This show is of course always in high demand in the evenings and at the weekends, so you should secure a good place very early, or in one of the many restaurants (e.g. mango), mostly on the 1st floor with a good table Reserve a view to enjoy this spectacle. The duration, synchronicity and effectiveness is very impressive and a must for every Dubai visitor.

Like the Bellagio in Las Vegas, it attracts mobs of visitors. We happened to catch an afternoon in mid January when it decided to dump "buckets" of water on everyone. Still beautiful.
Recommend arriving by 4 pm or so if you plan to find a photo worthy light & water show location. It's either go to the bridge or take a table at a resturant for better views.
Yes, there are lots of people but it is a beautiful memory to add on any visit to Dubai.

Outstanding water fountain show between Dubai Mall and Soukh Al Bahar. The fountains dance in the rhythm of different music trailers. The acoustics are stunning and the lights of downtown with a light show as well on Burj Khalifa make it an unforgettable and unique experience, which you can't see anywhere else. The show is for free and start with sunset at 6 pm and runs every 30 minutes . Plenty of nice restaurants and coffee shops are available with mostly good views. Avoid weekends as residents love the fountains as well and it can get a bit congested. If you combine it with a visit of Dubai Mall before it can be the perfect end of a day.

The fountains are a staple of Dubai, you cannot visit without seeing the fountain. I would recommend going to see it as night is falling in so you can see them lit up, they are on every 30 minutes I believe, and they dance to different music each time. It's great to stand and watch in the heat of the night and gives such a relaxing wonderful feeling. They are truly magical!

I had heard a lot about this Fountain show so expectations were sky high. Unfortunately it was underwhelming. The show starts in evening and happens every 30 mins for 5 mins. I saw 3 occurences one after the other and left feeling unsatisfied. Maybe it's to due with the fact that I have seen a much more grander show in New Delhi Akshardham temple which runs for close to 30 mins, is grander in scale and tells a story.

All in all good diversion if your are visiting the mall but would not recommend it as a standalone item in itinerary or making any extra compromises

Accessed from Dubai Mall are the Dancing Fountains in the Burj Khalifa lake. Evenings are the best time when the fountains, lights and music are switched on at 6pm, although visitors start assembling on the Waterfront, well before that. It is the world’s largest musical fountain and it’s free! The fountains consist of many jets blasting water up to 150 metres into the air and dancing in time with the music. There are 6,000 lights, lasers and colour projectors. The Burj is also colourfully lit up and the overall effect is extremely popular with visitors. So popular in fact that the number of visitors allowed on the Mall balconies overlooking the fountains have to be controlled.
After several hours walking around in Dubai Mall we watched the fountains from the balcony and the crowds for about an hour before catching a taxi back to our hotel.
