About
Mimicking a traditional Arabian bazaar, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai. It’s interconnected with waterways, lined with bars and bistros, as well as offers a picture-perfect view of the Burj Al Arab. Here, you can get adrift in a maze of stalls and browse everything from oud perfumes and glimmering jewelry to fragrant spices and Turkish pottery. You can also plan for an alfresco meal and soak in the good vibes outdoors. That’s not all—the best way to admire the bazaar is to hop on a traditional Emirati-style gondola and sail along the tranquil waterways. – Tripadvisor

Interesting take on an old theme
This was an interesting recreation of a souk, or bazaar - however, having been to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul this is not that. It's a very upscale shopping center in an interesting architectural style. There are many and varied shops, some are quality. There are high priced restaurants on the canal.

    Beautiful area
It’s so pretty here! The style is like a traditional souk, filled with stores (albeit at tourist prices) and restaurants. Lots of F&B options - overall quite pricey, but there are some more affordable ones as well. Most restaurants have an indoor and outdoor sitting area and the views are just gorgeous! There are a few spots where you can get a great view of the Burj Al Arab. A nice area to experience, very picturesque, but be prepared to spend a decent amount.

    Must Visit
The souq is impressive. The outside area mostly. It is good to walk around. There are several restaurants there. There is a paid parking but you can get it for free if you dine in. I recommend it for day and night since the view is stunning. I don't like that in some souvenir shops inside the souq the sellers are quite persistent trying to sell you stuff in a very high price in my opinion, since it is very touristic place. Of course there is no price on the products so they tell you what they want. The last time i visited there was one seller who was trying to convince me to buy something and he got very aggressive while i was politely telling him that i am not interested to buy anything. He sounded very rude to me and the other lady i was with. I did not want him to get in trouble and i did not report this incident. The seller was foreigner, and i understand that he wanted to make some money and he may had a bad day. However if you are not intend to buy anything i recommend to not even stop to see something especially if you are only ladies. Even though the majority respect ladies in Dubai and is safe for us, there are rare cases that some male for foreign countries don't really value ladies.

    Madinat Jumeirah
The Souk itself is quite small and sells mostly the same things mainly souvenirs of perfume , keychains, toy camels and bits of jewellery plus traditional dress. We took a boat around little Venice which is a nice way to see the sights and photo opportunities this cost 350 AED and taxi there and back about 50AED from where we were staying on the palm. All in all a good 2 to 3 hours spent. Other reviews talk about venders pulling you into their shops this is not true , they do ask but just say no politely and they don’t push it. We found the vendors polite and of good humour.

Old Dubai shopping with new Dubai luxuries
Souk Madinat Jumeirah is beautiful. It captures the authentic bazar shopping experience with the benefit of being inside with a/c away from the summer heat. Wonderful architecture both inside & out with amazing views of the Burj al Arab to top it off. Also the abra boat tour is a must, you can thank me later 😊

    Just Amazing
We visited the souk & I have to say it’s the best out of the ones we’ve been to totally stunning inside & lovely shop keepers who you can have a good laugh with . One of them dressed us in arabic costume . We bought silk scarfs & jewelry. It’s quite big inside too & air conditioned . Definitely going back & we will try the boats next time 👍🏼

Nice, Modern “Theme Park” Style Souk.
Sadly we forgot to check the opening time and arrived about 9:20. If you’re getting public transport, get the Tram to the end (Al Sufouh) and then get any of the buses that go along the main road, before getting off at the Burg Al Arab for the customary photo opportunity. The Souk was open, as were some of the stalls/shops. It has the air of queuing for an Indiana Jones ride at a Theme Park. It was kind of a win-win, as you got to appreciate the layout and design without being overly hassled by the proprietors and without having to spend excessively. Would recommend if you have 90 mins to spare.

    Civilized bazaar
A civilized version of a souk. Very nicely arranged, the merchants are much less insistent and disturbing than in the classic bazaar. Many interesting things that you can buy from dozens of stands. A lot of very nicely decorated restaurants, where alcohol is also sold, making you forget that you are in a country where it is difficult to find something like this in a restaurant. The whole complex is surrounded by a system of canals, which you can ride on an abra, for a rather high fee.

    Festive and Happy Vibes
Souk Madinat is hosting a festive market during the Holiday Season. They are making the Christmas Season in Dubai very joyful and enjoyable here in Dubai in the winter season. There are a lot of activities and experiences. 36 ft Christmas tree Light & sound Christmas trees shows Mini train rides Bungee jumping Venetian carousel Festive decorated abra rides Gingerbread house Festive shopping Festive dining Live band entertainment Boat Ride Everything is so Christmassy, Festive with the Burj Al Arab as a view, it is very wonderful. Numbers of restaurants are available for dining giving Christmas vibes as well. Please note, the lights and vibes are very nice at night but try to come early as there are a lot of people coming and experiencing. And traffic in Madinat are is very congested.

    Best Shopping for Souvenirs
This is a great spot for souvenir shopping. The products that you will find here are of a higher quality than the other souks and reasonably priced. You should try to negotiate the price here just like the other souks. Some popular items that you can find here are abayas, kaftans, lamps, camel chocolates, perfumes, jewelry, pashminas and many more. There are also restaurants here.

Even if you simply want to shop, it's a very enjoyable location to go because it's clean, has wonderful nighttime lighting, and has polite merchants. I adore it.

We did not go to the main gold and spice souk in Deira, I was discouraged from what i havge read and heard about the atmosphere there- this soul is a more relaxed experience while still feeling the authentic culture of the souk! From what I can tell, I felt like there weren’t any hustlers. Though many sellers were persistent but not too aggressive pressuring me to buy.

IMO, it’s a win-win that at Madinat Jumeirah Souk had the genuine souk experience while also having standard establishments i.e. a Caraway coffee at one end, then down the hall there is also Tommy Bahama. Traditional Dubai sprinkled with some familiarity.

pro tip:

Al Jabaaar and Discover Dubai are the more “chain” like souvenir shops that seem to be more standardized. However, don’t be afraid to ask- they will often cut you a deal- or redirect you to haggle with the man at the register to save a few AED and for the thrill without the stakes.

Souq Madinat Jumeirah offers numerous stalls catering to different tastes. Prices tend to be a bit higher than regular shops. It's a tourist hotspot, offering a captivating view of the iconic Burj Al Arab. Visitors can enjoy nearby boating and appreciate the market's charming antique touch.

Sure, it feels good to spend an evening.✔️

Well worth a visit to this bazaar, lots of stalls and the occasional western coffee shop!
Be aware of some of the rather pushy sales folks but all very polite, very clean and only a short wall from Jumeirah beach

Although it is not an old, traditional souk it re-creates the atmosphere and it is a nice place to visit and do some shopping. It is not an open-air site which makes it worth the visit during hot periods of the year.
The merchants are friendly and there is almost no "traditional" invite-for-shopping which gives you the opportunity to take your time and enjoy your visit.
The buildings in the neighborhood look very pretty and Burj Al Arab lies its silhouette over the elegantly man made canal.
It is a worth stop to spend about one hour during a ride with the Hop-on Hop-Off Blue Line bus.

The perfect encapsulation between new and old, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a clever shopping and dining destination next to the iconic Burj al Arab. From boat tours to locally handmade jewellery and handcrafts, Souk Madinat Jumeirah truly has it all !

Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai with breathtaking sights, souvenirs and cafes. It is interconnected with magnificent, crystalline turquoise-blue waterways, which you can experience by taking one of the boat tours. The boat tour can truly capture all your senses, from the fragrant salty smell of the ocean to getting to look at the picturesque and mind-blowing nature that surrounds the place. Not to mention, you will have the chance to look at and admire the dazzling Burj al Arab.

Personally, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is one of the places I would go back to numerously. The atmosphere is warm and light-hearted and the dining experience is exquisite. Additionally, the Souk genuinely mimics an old Arabian bazaar with tons of shops and kiosks for an excellent shopping trip. The only thing I would refrain from doing is visiting it the summer, because the very hot and scorching Dubai weather will prevent you from getting to experience the outdoor parts of the Souk.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to everyone , young and old , especially tourists since the location is one of a kind. If you’re looking for the perfect place to go with your family or your friends then Souk Madinat jumeirah is the place to be !
