The area
Neighbourhood: The Marina
It’s hard to believe that only a decade ago there was no marina. Opened in 2003, the man-made marina runs along a 3km stretch of shoreline. A heady mix of luxurious hotels, apartment buildings, and cafes, the marina hosts regular community events and markets, and is a wonderful place to while away an afternoon or evening. Spectacular at night when the skyscrapers glisten, here you can enjoy dinner on the beach next to the sea, or visit a high-rise bar in a hotel for a magnificent view across the Gulf and the man-made Palm Island, with the world-famous Atlantis Hotel at its end. The Walk at Jumeirah beach Residences is a pedestrianized stretch leading to a new development: The Beach. It’s one of the few places where Gulf nationals mix with tourists and Western ex-pats. It’s a popular place to show off your supercar for an evening, so watch out for Lamborghinis, Maseratis, and Ferraris in abundance.

This was our 10th dive , such a unique experience .
Friendly staff and great orientation for conditions of sea and surrounding elements of dive .
Proper equipment along with great weather and under stream water .
We dived for ship wreck (Dara) at 21 meter depth for 45 min , good visibility made it perfect dive . Although very strong current in the depth was undergoing but we were briefed and able to handle it .
I recommend it to divers

We did a wreck diving course with Laurent from the Pavilion Dive Centre. The overall experience was excellent. The dive instructors are very knowledgable and proficient and can rely on plenty of experience (Laurent did a fabulous job!). The course itself was challenging but Laurent guided us through it very well and really taught us a lot (both on wreck diving and general diving techniques). We booked our course in advance, got a reconfirmation the night before and had everything work perfectly. The boat trip was comfortable and speedy and the dives to the wreck site were really good. You notice they are used to serve five star hotel customers when you get croissants during the surface break and complimentary soft drinks. You can use the facilities (including lockers, showers, towels etc). after the dive, you're allowed to use most of the hotel's pools and beaches - a big plus! Once we get back to Dubai, we'll certainly dive with these guys again!

I have dived with and undertaken PADI courses here on numerous occasions over the years, fantastically professional, upholding dive training to the highest standards, but with a very friendly face. Apart from dive training they have a link into local schools and local government promoting environmental awareness and care of the sea.

Phil and his team are a credit to PADI as an organisation also to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Jumeirah group as a whole. Award of Platinum status is well deserved.

Always a pleasure to return.

Sadly as an experienced diver, I found I left this dive centre very disappointed. The majroity of staff were friendly and it was very clean but that's about it.

As I hadn't dived for 6 months and 1 weeks, I was told I had to do a refresher which personally I thought was over the top, and it felt like it was nothing more than a money making exercise. Spending 4 hours answering questions, running through every conceivable discipline (pretty much my PADI again) in a swimming pool isn't what I expect considering my experience and considering that anyone who had dived 6mths ago wasn't made to do it. A check dive yes, but this was OTT. My partner hadn't dived for 3 years so I fully understood why she was asked to do it.

The guy who took us through the 4 hour refresher, who I believe has since left, was very cocky and sure of himself, almost arrogant and rude.

The next day we arrived early in the morning and it was a bit of a free for all. As we weren't staying at the hotel and hadn't been diving with them before, we had no idea where anythnig was or how we were expected to gather our equipment. Rather than our guide or a member of staff showing us, we were lucky to find someone doing their instructors course who was able to advise us on what to do etc.

The boat was very small. It didn't have a toilet despite us doing a 2 dive morning trip which is fine for men, but for ladies it may be a problem and should have been explained prior to setting off.

Once at the dive site, there were a bunch of people spear fishing, yet we continued to do a "wreck dive" which to be quite honest was the most boring I've ever done. The viz was poor and even up close there was nothing of interest - a few dead fish on the sea floor, a very poorly turtle and concreate blocks which had been dropped on the boat damaging it.

Still we held out hope for our second dive, only to be told it was the same site! Once again we went down and saw nothing. We ahd been planning on doing a couple of dives, but after this decided our time and money would be better spent elsewhere.

This used to be by far the best outfit to dive with in the UAE. I'm not sure if Jumeirah Group, who own the place, are deliberately running it down over the past year but it's seriously declined. The excellent course director Phil has left, the replacement manager Elena has also now left and nobody is in charge. The young, inexperienced instructors that are left generally mean well but are left without anyone really running the show or ensuring standards. By no means is it a career development centre for sure anymore. The place rested on its laurels for years and having dived there recently I was appalled at the unfriendly atmosphere. It used to be busy and now it's dead. The dive sites locally are appalling too - head over to Oman or fujairah side instead. Diving Dubai side generally - don't bother with pavilion, unless you're just looking to start diving and do your entry level open water. I witnessed one of their instructors letting his students gear up at the pool incorrectly, followed by himself making the same mistake! Pavilion - not the place it once was.

My wife had never dived before and their diving experience seemed ideal. You cannot fail to be impressed by the Hotel but the diving experience was disappointing. The water is unclear because of the build work and tides and visibility is very poor. Go across to Korfakkan near Fujeirah or to Dibba on the other coast for a truly memorable experience. It's about 2 hours away but well worth it. The rating is about the diving experience and nothing against the staff or the hotel

I went to see if I could book my kids on the Padi bubble maker and was told that the dive centre was closing down. Was disappointed as hadn't been told and can't see anyway where it says that

My teenage son went along to a taster session at the Pavillion centre. He is partially deaf. The instructors were very good in explaining to him what to do. There was pre work on land explaining how to use the equipment and hand instructions for when underwater.
He was then taken to the pool where he went through 30mins on dive time on the surface first then deeper. He thoroughly enjoyed it and now desperate to do it again.
Staff in the cerntre very friendly to the parents waiting behind!

We did a big family holiday last August and my husband and I decided to take my father in law on a short dive as he hadn't dived since passing his padi in 2008!

The staff were amazing. They made sure we could put our equipment together ourselves (even for me, 2 years since my last dive, I struggled slightly!) and even helped us carry everything down to the shoreline.

We entered the water on the right side of the Burj Al Arab which was a lovely sight. Our instructor knew we only wanted a short dive so said we would be out for 30-40 minutes.

The swim out was lovely. Although there wasn't much to be seen, however vis was good.

The swim back was horrendous. Swimming through jellyfish with loose strands floating around. Amazing to see them, but being stung countless times was not fun!

Our instructor was surprised and said he had never seen so many before.

Overall we had fun, and it has given me the bug again!

I arranged my open water referral dives during a short trip to Dubai and JD a throughly professional experience. Good equipment, helpful dive staff, and the Master Instructor Saher dotted the i's and crossed the t's pre-post and during each dive to make this a great learning experience.
