Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Yes you feel that you are at the top, well if you have taken ticket for middle level than that feeling is still not there. Well I feel Dubai still needs more high rises buildings to be like Manhattan view from Empire State and to be not to have feeling like deserted. Secondly it is very costly, so I feel... More

The lines to get there were toooooooo long, but it worth to wait and see Dubai from the the sky! Impressive 1 minute elevator to the top, and you are in a huge mall where you can stay and have lunch, shop, etc

You definitely want to visit the tallest building in the world. You can get excellent pics from the top. If you are ready to shell out some more money then go in evening time as you will get both day and night view of Dubai. But you will have to book it advance and will cost extra. If you are... More

Not sure at what time other reviewers went up, but at 1030 on a weekday we just walked in and were at the top 5 minutes later. When we came back down at 1130 there was a 20 meter queue. The views are obviously great, only partial outdoor area, still behind glass. We did not go to the top. At... More

We ate lunch on the 123rd floor. View from the restaurant was amazing. Did not realize there activities (such a zip lining) that you could do from the there. Next time will have to take advantage. Food and drinks were good, but very expensive.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
