Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa,...

Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

The Burj Khalifa, is the most iconic building in the world, and going there is really really easy when you are in Dubai. Never take the train if you are a tourist as the taxi there is really really cheap as fuel there is 50 cents per litre. Taxi drivers are always on the ball, and they are not the... More

The tower is impressive and so is the view from the decks. However, there is not much else on the 124/125th floor apart from a souvenir shop and pestering photographers.

Burj Khalifa is a masterpiece of engineering. Suggest travellers get their very early (pre-book if possible) because the queues can be very long. Allow several hours to really experience this massterpiece.

Travelling as a family of 5 we enjoyed the view and the photo from the professionals at the top was expensive, however, became our blog cover photo, if you are a large group get them to do the falling off the girders. We pre-booked with Viator to skip the queues.

Nothing can describe this landmark...wherever you go in Dubai...this can be seen anywhere...was lucky to see the water show which happens on a regular basis...the landmark showcases it's beauty and was lucky enough to visit one of the floors in Khalifa...lovely mesmerizing view.

Beautiful views and all the staff are so nice. It's quite smaller to get around compared to the Empire State but we visited st a quieter time it was fantastic

The tallest tower in the world is definitely worth seeing. A really spectacular view from the top. Book in the evening to experience the sunset and see the difference between Dubai in the day and at night.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
