Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

First thing first, if you got a voucher for Burj Khalifa from your booking agents, you need to get your actual tickets from the entry counter named "At the top", which is located in basement floor of The Dubai mall only. Ours was 7.30pm slot. We joined the queue at 7pm. It will take around 30 to 45 mins easily... More

Went up for the sunrise at 6 am. The exhibit at the bottom is very nice, showing how the Burj Khalifa was built. The elevator went very fast, but I was a bit disappointed, I've seen other towers with nice shows or explanations in the elevator. Once at the 124th floor, I was also a bit disappointed by the small... More

The tallest building in the world. Comfortable location for sightseeing and fantastic big waterwork make it more fascinating. You can find the entrance in the side entrance of The Dubai Mall. Great views, great history.

Unbelievably building. If visiting you must venture up to the observatory floor where you can see the city from a birds eye view.

We booked 'At the Top Sky' tickets at sunset and since this is such a busy time we were quite glad that we booked this ticket as the lines get quite long! The sky tickets allow you into the shorter line so that you came get up and down more quickly with shorter lines. Additionally, when you get off the... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
