Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

This building is a must if you visit Dubai it's truly breathtaking, also the dancing fountains on the way out is remarkable . On my recent trip to Dubai I don't think there is 1 building the same. The architecture that has gone into each sky scraper is 2nd to none . I Loved Dubai x I Shall Return

This is a must do in Dubai. The view wasn't 100% clear due to some haze but still quite stunning, I can only imagine how amazing it would be on a clear sunny day. We had a great time on the 124th and 125th floors; I feel that there would not be a huge difference in terms of the view... More

Beautiful views of the city. Try to make it before between 3pm-5pm to great some pictures while there is still light.

Others have said it before me. You just have to visit. Go on a clear day, cloud free, for the best experience! Booking is recommended, as expected, it gets real busy.

Trip to the top is definitely worth it. Buy tickets on line -- cheaper. Start time, about 1 hr before sunset. Once up there you can stay as long as you like... So sunset, followed by fountains

This won't be the world's tallest building for long! Saudi Arabia is almost finished building a taller building, so you'd better get there soon! Definitely book ahead and look for deals on Groupon.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
