The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR) is a designated protected area for the conservation the natural inland desert ecosystem of Dubai. It spans 4.7% of the total land area of Dubai Emirate and encompasses 225km2 of sand dunes desert ecosystem interspersed with gravel plains. The DDCR is a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and has gained international recognition from the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). The DDCR is home to 57 Plant species, over 120 birds and 43 mammals and reptiles including the iconic Arabian Oryx. The DDCR can be visited by either staying at the Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa or for day visits with one of the four concession holders; Arabian Adventures, Lama Tours, Travco and Alpha Tours.

Take a booking to go there in the agency Ocean travel Dubai it will be included in the desert drive. If possible ask to get Aku the leader of the group. He will make it perfect for your visit.

The desert safari was the thrilling to say the least. Such a great experience but this is not for the faint heart....We got to enjoy the entertainment and dinner at the camps.. Henna application was a plus to in indulging in the Arabic culture

Love the Range Rover dessert rides. It was exciting. Love the camel rides too but it was very short. The food was ok. (Buffet style). Too many people but they have lots of activities for people to do.

Hi, you can get a private car from the company that does the tours but will follow more or less the whole convoy of cars and more or less stick to the schedule. Sunset is part of the tour though in any case.

We just went back in Feb with Platinum Heritage amd they were FANTASTIC!! Great time, really wonderful guides, wonderful dinner at desert camp. You cannot go wrong with them!

You are in the desert so hardly the kind of wildlife you are seeing in Africa. Saying this there are plenty of Onyx and other little quadrupeds, little birds that are reintroducing in the desert etc.
