One of the oldest Islamic currency of Al Madina Munawara on this world. This coin is very precious especially for Muslims and it is very rare in this world. This coin is more than 1400 year old and this coin was used for the trade and buying or selling of products during time of Sahaba Karam..This unique coin of Madina was used in the Khalafat of Hazarat Abu Bakar saddique.

Kalma Mubrik is written clearly on one side of coin along with names of Khulafa-e- Rashideen in Arabic language. On other side of coin there is picture of Al Masjid-e- Nabwi and word “Madina” in embossed form.

Features and Benefits of this coin:

1) More than 1400 years old coin

2) This coin was used as currency during the earliest stage of arrival of Islam. It was used during the time of Khulafa-e-Rashideen.

3) Master piece of ancient Islamic art and calligraphy.

4) This coin is lucky coin containing blessings and barakat of Allah which I really feel always whenever it remains with me.

5) One of the most precious and very rare coin on this world.

6) This coin belongs to Holy land of Madina

7) Only Muslims can realize the importance and worth of this coin.

I have a rare islamic coin which is more than 1450 years old. You can clearly see "13 Hijri" word on coin. There is Kalma on it and also 4 Khulfas Names. I Want to sale it, but only people who can pay sufficient amount for this precious thing

The Coins Museum is located in the Bastakia Heritage quarter and is in a unassuming 2 storey building. Each room has a large collection of coins from various dynasties belonging to the Middle East from the onset of Islam to the current day.

It was interesting to see how currencies and their modes underwent many changes, before the current coins used by us came into being. The coin collection is well-illuminated and comes with good descriptions as well. However, there was no guide to explain the details for someone interested in numismatics. Otherwise, the place is worth a short 30 minute visit. Entry is free.

I like coins usually - but here they were really poorly presented with terrible lighting - so you can't really see anything. I would have been interested in explanations of the history of money in the region presented in a creative way- but there was nothing except dark dusty cabinets. We left after 5 minutes.

Too bad - this is a wasted opportunity.

We did drop into the calligraphy centre, also nearby where we spent a fantastic 30 minutes with Abdul who wrote our names in Arabic script and explained the phonetic system - go find him instead!

A bit frustrating that this small museum is closed on Saturdays, when there are lots of tourists exploring the "old" section of Dubai in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood. No charge to enter... when it's open.

There is a lot of information and a very large collection of coins to look at. Better suited for serious numismatists but offers a look into the region's history to anyone.

I spent a little while wandering around the various rooms here and gazing at the impressive collection of coins from antiquity though I have to admit the sheer volume of history unknown to me referenced alongside the displays proved a little overwhelming; one for the serious coin collector perhaps?

If you find yourself in Bastakia, consider detouring to this little museum. Free of charge, it offers a pretty neat glimpse at the different currencies that have been used in the region throughout history. In this manner, it is somewhat of a 'history through currency', which is pretty decent considering the deficit of historical museums in the UAE.

In the museum, you'll find little rooms with coins dating back to the Romans, the Greeks, the Sassanids, the Persians, etc. all the way up to more modern coinage, such as the Ottomans. Though the exhibits' presentation is a little amateurish, it's a good way to kill half an hour if you want to take in Bastakia beyond the souks and restaurants.
