We spent 5 hours or so, over two trips taking photos of the birds, the light effects, sunset and sunrise. A truly beautiful place. The first place I saw in Bolivia that made me really glad I had come to this remote corner of the Earth where nobody seems to know how to make nice bread or to construct a... More

The lagoon was truly a deep red colour when we visited due to the algae that live there. Contrasted with the clear blue sky, and with the mountains behind and thousands of flamingoes reflected perfectly in the still water this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited.

Sooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!! I dont know the name of the agency we went with, our guide wasnt very "guidy" he gave enough information so we understood what we were looking at. But it doesn't matter because the views are just breathtaking!!!!

absolutely not to be missed, the sort of place you see on wild life documentaries. But be careful of the season. We went in October and saw literally thousands of flamingoes. Truly amazing

One of the highlights of the three days in South Lipez and Salar !! A must visit. In the mean time we visited, it seemed more like a mirror than any other color, it was still awesome!

Tours rarely spend more than a half hour to an hour at Laguna Colorada and that is a mistake. It is best to see the light changing at this lake throughout a day. The water is orange red in the early morning becoming more red and blue as the day goes by to become pinkish red at sunset. If in... More

I heard we were visiting Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon) and was dubious that it would be red - but it was and is beautiful! The scenery in this entire area is amazing but this, with snowcapped mountains, the red lagoon and the gorgeous pink flamingos is just stunning.

I traveled to Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon) as part of a private trip organized by Hidalgo Tours. It snowed on the day we were scheduled to travel to Laguna Colorada (from Villamar Village), which was unexpected in May. Although it wasn’t clear whether we could make it to Laguna Colorada, we gave it a go and got there, enjoying some... More

This was our favorite stop on the altiplano. Seeing hundreds of flamingos on the large and deserted red waters of the lake was a highlight of our drive. Must see on the altiplano.

Its a RAMSAR site due to this special habitat surrounded by high deserts and an unique spot where almost 30,000 Andean flamingoes of the 3 species nest at this hard living conditions.
