This park is beautiful.......however, even being covered head to toe with repellent you are going to lose the battle against the mosquitoes during the day. Beach is beautiful.......just can't take the bugs.......

This was our first year to camping at Fort Custer. We had a beautiful grassy site but it was a bit of a hike to the bathrooms with young ones. The bathrooms aren't as clean or nice as Yankee Springs but they are ok. Many of the sites are dirt or asphalt so be aware of that when booking. We... More

Let me begin by saying that the only reason this campground doesn't get 5 stars is because there are no water/sewer hookups and there is no pool. There is electric at each camp site. There is no wifi, which is a plus for me. But, despite this, we love Fort Custer! This is the only campground I've been to that... More

We spent last weekend camping here with friends. We have camped at many Michigan State parks over the years, but this was our first time here. This campground is different than most other state park campgrounds. It is much more "wild" than most. It is heavily wooded with lots of underbrush. The sites are basically carved out of the woods.... More

We visited this place for the 4th of July weekend. It is a very nice place to go camping. We went with tents, got spacious, nice sites. We did not have any problem to put two big tents and a gazebo on one site. The sites have a privacy, you hardly can see the site if you are walking by,... More

We made last minute plans to go camping and Fort Custer was one of the only state parks in West Michigan with open sites. A nice clean campground. We were impressed by the privacy of the sites. Well spaced. About half the sites have a paved pad. Those without were rather muddy do to rain a few days before we... More

We decided to stay at Fort Custer for a 2 day spontaneous camping trip and we enjoyed it here. Although we stayed on a Sun-tues in June, was very rainy and the occupancy was only 25%; it was still cozy and we had stuff to do. Numerous biking trails. A short 1mi bike ride to eagle lake which has a... More

Unlike one of the reviews our trip was awesome. I was impressed by the size of the sites, the woods between most sites and very impressed by the trails. Thank Goodness I wasn't next to the reviewer who complained about the staff here. Sounds like sour grapes from obnoxious campers to me. We have nothing but good to say about... More

Love this place, great trails for hiking, biking, dog sledding, horseback riding, camping. Several lakes for swimming and fishing. Have been going for over 40 years. It can get crowded, especially when they have a mountain bike race going on so check the schedule.
