Into day 5 of our safari, we had two nights on the Chobe Princess 3. The boat itself was well laid out, cabins at water level were comfortable and had enough space (allowing that it was a boat), and the dining and lounging area above...More
We booked a three night/four day cruise on the Chobe Princess 2 in order to experience a somewhat more relaxed way to view many animal than the land-based safaris. There were only eight passengers on the boat which made it very comfortable.

The tour I was on arranged for a small boat (there were 9 of us including our tour guide) which left around 3 pm. The first thing we saw were 5 bull elephants swimming across the river to the island in the middle. The island...More
Relaxing, peaceful and idyllic way to see the wildlife from a different perspective. Elephants swimming across to Namibia, crocs sunbathing, water monitor lizards creeping about, hippos everywhere and animals coming to cool down and drink from the river.
The highlight of the Chobe national park is without doubt the river and all the animals than gather around it for food, swimming, grazing and playing and the best way to see it is from a boat. Unforgettable experience
Just,..I mean nothing really compares to the feeling one gets when they cruise the mighty Chive river.
Go watch all the big 5's (almost) by the river bed, getting cozy basking at the sun or just drinking water.

A Chobe river cruise has to be the best experience in Africa. Never disappoints. Some may prefer the operators who run smaller boats for more individual attention. When in Chobe / Kasane, a sunset river cruise is a must.
This was a unique experience to do safari game drives on small boats and get up close to the animals. The houseboat is very smooth and comfortable beds. The second floor on the houseboat is the bar, coffee station, lounge area, sitting deck are with...More
For something different, a couple of nights on the Chobe Princess was great. Getting to the houseboat was the first experience, we had to travel over three countries to get there. Rooms on the Chobe Princess are adequate with ensuite with the rooms serviced the...More

I may be wrong, and I can't remember the various dates I was in Kasane but the elephant population and the hippo population seem to be resident so they are around anytime as they are in Chobe NP..... And of course the crocodiles are always hanging out on the Riverbank. It's a great cruise to take around sunsets. My only concern was how close some of the boats approached the elephant families. They seemed stressed and I reported the situation to the Botswana `tourism Organization (BTO) so perhaps it has been resolved. If not you should launch a complaint. Have a good trip. I have traveled extensively worldwide and the Okavango Delta and the Chobe region are one of my favorite....
