The pics you see of the carvings are accurate - not impressive in great detail or quantity. The water in June was a mere trickle in the upper cascade (maybe a 2’ drop, def not a water ‘fall’) and the lower fall (about a 15’...More

A gentle climb ( in flip flops ! ) beautiful wildlife and ancient stone carvings at the top. Well worth a visit ! The snake was a bit of a surprise tucked under a rock !!! Got lucky seeing the blue lizard.

Our tuk tuk driver took us out here on our second day of exploring the temples. It’s a ways out of town but the drive is nice. We didn’t realize we would be hiking to the site. It’s 1.5 km to get there over some...More

You should know what you're getting into with this: it's not a big, spectacular temple. It is, however, a really nice long ride through the Cambodian countryside, a cool hike through the Cambodian jungle with interesting rock formations and tree roots, some pretty carvings, a...More

Decided on not doing the hike up the mountain to view the more intricate carvings. Jumped out the car and had a quick look along the river bed beside the carpark on the way to the Kulen Waterfall.

This was the best thing to happen to us...enjoyed the trek through the forests at first, and we then came across aome amazing sculptures. Ended with a bath in the waterfalls. This place is a must-do for all travellers who visit Siem Reap.

I hired a private car to see 4 of the temples that are out of Siem Reap, Kbal Spean was one of them. You need to walk on/up/down uneven ground (dirt, tree roots, rocks etc) for 1.5km each way, which makes you quite hot and...More

Went to visit Kbal Spean in April, during the dry season. Took a 2 hour journey out of town, and took around 30mins to reach the TOP where the carvings were. We were expecting a huge waterfall where we could swim in, but the waterfall...More

As you make your way up the hillside, drink plenty of water and don't brave it, take breaks. On reaching the river I wondered why it would be a good thing if it was running full. All the carvings would be hidden from view. In...More

No, but it would be quite hot and tiring. PLUS from the base of the hill you have to climb anyway. And that is for at least 45 minutes. So it's preferable to hire a car.
