I tried to imagine what it would be like to come through here when you were entering the city. Mere mortals would have been in awe of such a magnificent imposing gate entering the city of Angkor. How magnificent it must have been thinking, 'if this is the entrance what sits behind it'. Would love to go back in time... More

This Entrance is a little more off the main track and we had it to ourselves for a short time. Our Tuk Tuk driver took us it was a rough track but he offered and we where well rewarded good for Photographs without crowds.

so impressive and majestic. I do have a tip, ask your tour guy to show you the less know gates, not easy to reach, but less or no tourists, and they are more impressive because they just surrounded by trees .

Loved visiting at this Gate (East or Victory Gate), even though most of the heads have been restored. It gives one a sense of what the others looked like. Stop and climb onto the wall and get close to the four faces on the tower. Be aware, that the the road through is very narrow. If you are patient enough,... More

Fascinating structure and entrance to the old city. There are 4 in all. This one has a very striking bridge up to it with the statues either side, we cycled over the bridge and up onto the walls to get a different perspective of the temples. It can get very busy here in the morning, a little quieter by lunch... More

This gate marks the beautiful entrance to the inner compound of the temples. It is both beautiful and awe-inspiring.

There are 4 gates to the old city of Angkor Thom. Do stop and take photos. On the bridge leading up to the Victory Gate you will see on one side demons pulling on a Naga while on the other side solders do the same. It illustrates a time when they worked together.
