The Royal Residence in Siem Reap is an interesting place to walk around. We were informed that this was the Royal Family's holiday house with the main residence in the capital. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the main driveway is decorated with amazing statues depicting ancient Khmer warriors. It is great that the public get to visit this site when the Royal Family is not in residence.

Well worth a walk round early in the day. The grounds are well maintained and the main paved area is decorated with a lot of great statues depicting ancient Khmer warriors. There is an active temple and lots of street activity outside it.

Although the gardens are worth a stroll this handsome structure is closed to the public. It may be magnificent as far as Cambodian houses, but it is certainly not an impressive structure when compared to other southeast Asian palaces or European ones. The park and surrounding environs, though, are among the most handsome parts of Siem Reap.

I stumbled across the royal residence, a summer retreat if you call it that for the King to visit whilst in Siem Reap. It is located on National Route 6 ( Airport Road ) close to the river with an attractive garden area on the other side of the road. It is a fairly simple white structure which doesn't really stand out as a king's residence but perhaps this is what makes it so good. No real protection was visible just a comfortable large residence in a local neighbourhood. There are a few temples around which are frequented by locals for blessings but nothing which would suggest there is a royal building in the midst. I was both impressed and intrigued by the simplicity.

Not open to the public but close enough to the town centre to walk past if you are interested in architecture. No problems taking photographs - the guards seem to be too busy reading the paper!!

Not much to say really. Its just a house on the road, with one guard sitting outside. You cant go in, nice for a photo, and thats about it. Not worth going out of your way to see. The royal temple is opposite, a lot nicer..

It's a relaxing place for locals and tourists alike. If you have time during the day, it's worth taking a walk here to observe the local way of life, how they pray at the temple nearby, how to release birds for good karma, how they relax in the garden...
