As of February 2017, it is closed due to low number of penguins. Unfortunately, there is no info about that on junction with Ruta 9, so we had to drive all the way gravel road (that's a lot of fun, actually) just to see the...More

We drove to the site and it was not open. It is unfortunate because it was quite a long drive. It was a Sunday and perhaps it was closed? There were no hours listed on the gate, just a sign that said it was closed....More

I really wanted to go see the penguins at Punta Arenas, and since the boats weren't going to Isla Magdalena due to strong winds, I thought I'd go and visit the Seno Otway population. Unfortunately, it is low season right now, and the reserve is...More

Well worth a trip to this penguin reserve especially if you have kids, they will see millions, and I mean millions of penguins in their natural habitat from babies to adults

We had a day tour called 'Penguins and Condors', and I assumed we'd be c. half a day with both. However, the penguin colony appears to change its opening times and on the day we went didn't open until 4.30pm. We spent about an hour...More

Had a free afternoon in Punta Arenas so decided to book a tour to see the penguins at Seno Otway. I may have been unlucky that day because there were about 10 penguins far on the beach and could only see their upper half as...More

Otway Sound is only accessible via land. You can drive here yourself or book through a tourist office. We were told we would only see a handful of the Magellanic penguins but I was also very interested in experiencing the Seno Otway. It was amazingly...More
