2nd visit still a pleasure

This was my 2nd trip to the university and I liked it a lot. A must are the xiada reservoir up on the hill and the long tunnel with all the paintings and drawings on the wall... read more

Typical appearance, need passport to enter, or Chinese resident card. The draw is the beautiful ocean scenery of Xiamen and the Gulangyu Island.

Quite an odd place to have became a tourist attraction however it is very nice to walk around. One of the oldest universities in China, it has some lovely buildings and a lot of history. It is very spread out and interesting to see the students going about their day. Lots of facilities on the campus and a nice lake... More

So googled about Xiamen and this university is apparently the top attraction in Xiamen. Went there to find out, the queue was crazy even before the opening hours, so my friend and I decided to wait until the opening hours. They open the place for tourist in the morning, and evening (after 5pm). The place has unique architecture and a... More

If you come to this University to learn Chinese, you will be shipped out to the XiangAn campus, you will not enjoy the beautiful scenery and ocean views. XiangAn campus is in the middle of nowhere, it takes more than an hour to get there, and to add salt to the wound, the bus service is diminishing every year. There... More

Visited Xiamen University on a weekday and non China public holiday but still huge crowds of people lining up outside the campus to get in the 12:00 time slot. We arrived at about 11:30am and there were already over 100 people waiting in line. Not sure what the hype is about as it is just an average university with some... More

Taught as music professors here, students were enthusiastic and sincere about learning, worked hard to understand what we were asking them to do.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Huge crowds of people showed up over CNY 2017 to see this place. It's ok at best. I remember touring a college in Topeka, Kansas once. It was smaller, but at least the buildings were well cared for. Xiamen University has houses on campus that aren't cared for at all... More

Xiamen is a great city to just walk around in. It's quieter and more sedate than other Chinese towns. I loved wandering this beautiful university campus, taking photos and chatting with my friends.
