This fort overlooks a section of the Pearl River, hence has strategic importance. Sadly, this advantage was not successfully used by the Qing Dynasty during the First Anglo-Chinese War of 1839–42. [There were many other issues involved, hence The Opium War is a commonly used misnomer.] The fort can be challenging to find by land but is simpler by river.... More

Being a history Buff, I always try to locate any historical place in the cities I am visiting. This time while in southern China, I located an obscure historical fort.
