Beautiful landscaped grounds. Totally immaculate. You could eat from the floor. Shows the beautiful Chinese culture to the extreme. The museum amazing and the reconstruction of the dwellings totally beautiful and sympathetically restored. They even offered us a personal translator at no charge. Totally amazed no admission charge for such a wonderful attraction of which China must be so proud of. Thank you for a wonderful interesting day in respect of a wonderful man.

The museum is pretty far away from the city center, a friend of mine who works for the government took me there, we went through without any line and payment, the atmosphere inside is solemn and quiet, lots of history pictures from 1895-1925 could be seen, we took photos in front of the Statue of Dr, Sun Yat Sen, it made me think of George Washington of the U.S.A, Kudos to what you have done for China, Doctor Sun! sure recommend it to everybody!

During schooling days, I was misled to believe that Dr. Sun was the Father of China (as claimed by Taiwan's version of ROC). Thie memorial museum presents the actual background story.

Very humble residence for someone who came from Zhongshan and led a revolution which brought about a new kind of government in the most populist country in the world. The museum provided valuable historical perspective on his as well as the country's struggles at the turn of the 20th century. It also offered some intimate glimpse into his family life. A replica village section was created to provide a min-milieu for the residence. A simple, rustic park was built next to the museum area to give it space for potential tourist overflow. Very simply but tastefully done to remember a great man. Situated some 30 km south of Shiqi, Zhongshan, its is reachable by local buses (a 50 mins. ride with multiple stops) for 4 Rmb. Admission is free.

This is a great place to spend a few hours. See the house and other structures from Sun Yat Sen's village. A good mix of culture, beautiful grounds and history. He was a major influence in the growth, modernization and expansion of China's place in the world. I never knew about this important, intelligent and inspiring man. An excellent way to learn about China.

My 86 year old Dad and I visited The Sun Yat Sen's Residence Memorial Museum which is about 30km from Zhongshan city. It is a MUST SEE if you are in the Zhongshan city.

The house which Sun Yat Sen built still exists, but even better, the authorities preserved some of the homes in the little village he grew up in. Homes of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, the Tofu maker, and others. It wasn't difficult to imagine the young Sun Yat Sen running amongst the homes, running errands, and playing with his friends.

Also in the grounds of the memorial is the museum with a pretty extensive collection of Mr Sun's writings and photos and newspaper clippings etc. There is also quite a bit of information on his family - his parents, brother, wives and children. The information in the museum are written in English and Chinese and I learnt a lot about Mr Sun and his contributions to modern China.

I can't recall if the place is totally wheel chair friendly, because my father is quite mobile. However, I can safely say that if you wish to bring along someone who is able to walk a little - though he or she may require a wheelchair for longer distances, then the memorial museum is quite manageable.

When my friends and I visited the museum (officially: The Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen; Chinese: 孙中山故居) there was a so-called visitors' center to the left of the entrance but there were no museum maps only a small brochure in Chinese explaining the museum and Cuiheng area. No tour guides as this is a self guided tour but I saw several security on the grounds. After a bit of a walk is one of the rebuilt homes of Dr. Sun with a bent tree in front. From there you walk around a small compound with several houses, including a wealthy family house and a middle class farmer's house. As other reviewers have noted there aren't actors in period costumes. Unfortunately there are no mannequins either and few exhibit objects on the day I visited. Signage is few and mostly in Chinese. Restroom building has only squat toilets but did have hand soap. After we exit the outdoor museum is the air-conditioned two story indoor museum which detailed Dr. Sun's life and 3 marriages and family descendants. Many of the exhibits have an English translation but the interactive computers are all in Chinese. A gift shop by the entry has souvenirs such as flashlights, pens, pendants, key chains and Chinese books. Museum website is entirely in Chinese.

Nice to visit. It is educational. It would have been more interesting if even the staffs are dress like in the old times.

I've traveled many places in China, especially Guangdong Province - and this is one of the most meaningful places I've visited. Getting to know Sun Zhongshan's character better by visiting his home makes me appreciate him even more.
