I went to Palisades Interstate Park in September, 2019. It has excellent views and is perfect to stop at on a road trip. It is a quick 20 minute drive from Manhattan and shows the Hudson rivers unseen beauty.

So many different hikes and views along the cliffs you literally can’t go wrong stopping by. Parking is a little cramped especially on the weekends and during the summer but don’t let the parking situation delay you from going, it’s definitely worth it!

Great challenging hike, a bit muddy but it was a great hike. Nice water fall before you start hiking the big rocks. Wear proper shoes since is king of slippery once you have mud in the bottom of your shoes.

Although the views and trails are beautiful, I do not recommend this hike for beginner hikers. My boyfriend, who has been on a few hikes before, and I, who have never hiked before, intended to go on the shortest hike advertised, and not only ended up on the longer trail (both of which we thought were loops back to the parking lot), but instead ended up six miles in a straight line in the opposite direction of the parking lot. It took us about six hours to get back. We specifically chose the short trail because it was advertised as easier, but also to avoid the rocky beach. We ended up having to climb the rocks, where I fell and cut my arms and ankles. As beginner hikers, it was extremely difficult to keep track of where we were going, and became physically challenging. Aside from that, I brought my camera and captured hundreds of beautiful views throughout the hike. We saw butterflies, falcons, deer, and snakes. The waterfall that leads down to the Hudson river was beautiful, and after we got past the rocks, the trail was relatively flat and easy. There was plenty of free parking and picnic tables to eat.

We came here on the way back to NJ from NYC. It is a little known area right across from the city, and beautiful. Birds soar over the river, with incredible views and nice trails. We will come again.

I hiked for the first time this past weekend with my daughter and best friend and it was phenomenal! This is a very impressive park with lots of views! I ended up in pain at the end but it was worth it! Definitely recommend this awesome park!

This river front park has 30 miles of trails and amazing views of NYCity. There are some parking areas, so I recommend you choose carefully according to the activities you want to do. We parked at the Englewood picnic area which is in the middle of the park. From there we took the path south towards Fort Lee. It is a quite manageable walk during which you can enjoy amazing views of the George Washington bridge and the city. This walk is by the river, but then it is totally worth it to go up to Fort Lee. More great views! There are a lot of picnic areas, the park is very clean, but very crowded. Some areas are dog and bike friendly, but others are not. So research carefully before you go.

usually heavily trafficked, Giants Stairs trail is the most challenging in Palisades. The trail steeply descends to the shore of Hudson River, and then lasts more than a mile over the Giant Stairs - a long section of huge boulders having tumbled from Palisades - before finally comes back up.

We started hike right before a T-storm, so some web surface made Giant Stairs even more challenging and we had to scramble, sometimes with both hands. But the rewarding view made all the efforts worthwhile.

The trail is a relatively short 4.5 miles. A good pair of hiking shoes/boots will help.

Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely beautiful. I was just here in the fall, but I could imagine at any time of the year would be amazing. There are places you can walk and there are some pretty challenging hiking trails as well. There is a concession shop there as well.
