One of the reasons why I decided to go to Zhengzhou from Shandong province was to visit this venue. I was curious to see how huge these sculptures were and honestly I wasn't disappointed at all. I really enjoyed the time I spent there. Reaching this place was kind of a nightmare though. It is pretty far from the city center. When I say city center I mean Erqi square, which is the pulsating hearth of Zhengzhou. Getting to Yan and Huang Emperors' statues took me almost four hours (round trip). Needless of me to say the bus was overcrowded and I had no choice but to be standing all the time squeezed as a sardine among the other passengers. Only by taking a city bus (called 游16) it is possible to get to this place. There are many useless stops in between where nobody gets off the bus and only a very few people get on. In my opinion a long distance bus should be arranged so to save time and prevent travelers from a breakdown. Aside from this misadventure the place I have visited was great.

The only sad thing about this place. In the winter everything is grey in Zhengzhou, and it was really cold. I think this scenic spot better in the summer, or autumn. But it is a personal problem. You can play around a whole day, maybe two here, there is so much to do if you like fresh air, monuments, sculpture, history. It is a great fun! Even in this weather. The price only 40 RMB (which really worth it), and it is a bit challenging to mount the mountain. Yan and Huang faces from the rock really great work of art (I think World of Warcraft stole this idea for the Wetlands Dam). Either you go up or just take pictures from the distant, everybody will be jelous for your luck to be here.

If you are in zhengzhou for tourism, there is not much to offer. This site however, about a half hour outside the city near the yellow river scenic area, has these enormous mountain carvings, plus some beautiful gardens/ caligraphy in stone scenic areas. If in zheng zhou, worth the trip.

A modern attempt at making a new tourist trap. Let's copy Mount Rushmore, it'll give people a reason to visit a polluted river

Getting to this park took nearly two hours by bus from Zhengzhou. It's got a nice view, and you can climb to the top of the sculptures, but that's about it. There's nothing historic at all about the site; it's all recently built and is nothing more than the government's attempt to capture some tourist dollars. Most of the construction is cheesy and shoddy (the majority made of fiberglass that's already starting to corrode), and the local guests seem to ignore the many rubbish bins in favor of throwing their trash on the ground or in the pools of brackish water. (Did I mention that the newly-constructed ponds already were filled with algae and trash?) In the end, I took a few nice pictures but felt that my time had been ill spent.

On April 18 2019, my wife & I visited the Yellow River & The sculpture of Emperors Yan and Huang which is a monument in China that was
carved from a mountain on the Yellow River.
The monument was impressive & can be seen from miles away.

Took a taxi to get there.

It is a waste of time and money. There is nothing special of the scenic area. It’s all made recently.
